Juma Type 200 Trucks

It’s dented, and the way it fits against the hanger makes me think it was jamming.

I wonder if it’s brass or copper, either way I wonder if it’s to soft or something.

In the video you can see when I press my finger against the plug it prevents the left turn. I was not pressing particularly hard. So I think the tolerances have to be very tight, so the dent stopped it.

You going to try and smooth it out or ask for another one?

I’m going to email them and try to figure out what caused it to fail. I’m not convinced I won’t have the same issue with another copper plug. I can’t see the all of hanger it’s contacting so it could be there’s a defect on the hanger denting the plug.

Just playing with it, i have got it to stop snagging, I have not confidence it won’t snag again.

I just had my first run with just the front trucks, and I just keep thinking “it’s fucking weird.” I can see the low speed carviness and I can see the stability potential. But I cannot right now get over the lack of rebound.

Everything is engaged and initiated by you and controlled by you. You go to heel and you go to toe, speed might keep you more centered but you can still initiate toe side and heel side easily (due to lack of resistance and rebound). For this reason it sketches me out a bit right now. I have twitchy feet especially when I haven’t warmed up, and man I’m afraid I’ll twitch and initiate a turn.

BUT I can see others liking this level of control and I can easily see others getting used to this style.

And the carviness isn’t the same, the motion is there if you do the motion, but there’s no pop and it’s only as smooth as you make it.

I currently have it on stability mode so maybe not yet a fair comparison. Will move it to carve mode and see how it goes. Otherwise these just may not be for me and I’ll throw them up for sale (front/back trucks and motor mounts).

How do they compare to 3-links?

I’ll let you know when I ride my 3Links lol, but I think there’s actual rebound on 3Links.

Actually I will say. I got to ride @poastoast’s 3Link only on the front street board and didn’t get the same sensation as I did here on the Jumas. It was more natural coming from RKPs, everything is how you’d expect it.

Which brings up the point that I could just try 3Links only on the front as well for a fair comparison. But after I move the Jumas to carvy mode and give that a test ride.

I’m going to try and make a 3d printed channel style rebound bushing either with tpu or an adapter for normal bushings. If i had that I don’t think I’d need steering tension plugs.

What plug did you end up liking and why?

The red one a bit tighter than it came stock. I didn’t like the spring and have not tried the black one.

The spring give you a stronger center, so you might like it more.

Haha I swapped that in right away based on your description. But I’m also heavy so idk that might affect what I’m experiencing.

Juma is apparently going to send the rebound kit to existing customers later this spring.

And they are working on a harder steel cam(metal t plug), which should fix my issue.

He says to be careful of applying two much preload to the plug. Although I’m not clear how applicable that advice is given that when it failed I had only applied one or two turns. And when it first snagged it was stock out of the box, no additional preload.

Nice, thanks for the update definitely good to hear (about both), but yeah clearly it’s a known failure point if they’re already working on making a stronger one.

I haven’t run into the same issue as Avi, but maybe I’ll see about the rebound adapters.

I find these truck really fascinating. Looking forward to hear riding impressions with the additional parts.

Is there any news on this issue?
to be honest, that scares me big time.

This is the news: Juma Type 200 Trucks - #94 by Avi

They seem to have good customer service, and they were already working on a steel cam. So they will send me one when they’re in stock. Until then my type 300 is on the shelf.
