EVOLUTION - The 2 year idea.

This is the best thing I’ve ever seen, i wish I had the dedication and attention to detail you have @ducktaperules.

This is my BOTY and my favourite build to date, great looking up mounting drives, black color scheme, great modeling, custom CNC parts… A dream come true!

Keep up the good work, looks amazing!

Ps. Also Amazing writing, storytelling, and build thread. Really outstanding.

Footpad finished printing

Looks like it fits well too

Hopefully cables go in like this

Also started thinking about Battery case orientation.

Had this Peli 1170 kicking around so i thought id try it on there

Most builds have the case mounted long ways.

but you catualy get much more ankle space mounting sideways

Longways . . . or sideways . . . looks . . . or practicality . . .

I just dont know.

How many batteries can you fit in the Peli 1170?

So till this point i had always been thinking about cutting the deck in to match the ESC case in the center.

But to do this cut along the curved surface on my CNC i would need a very accurate model of the deck curvature so i set about re-drawing it as i intended to cut it. Whilst working out the correct geometry i had a crazy idea / stroke of genius.

Like the cuts on the deck tips, there was no reason these needed to be a flat shape :astonished:

Came up with these little cut in shapes that make things a little more interesting.

So first the excess chunks got cut off.

Then the sloped sections get profiled in.

Finally a light hand sand to clean up any edges.

Deck looks way better than i could have hoped. There is probably a lot of scope for this kind of 3d cut to be further explored.

Now the deck contours match those found on the ESC case and its all starting to look a lot more coherent.

Sideways gets my vote. I think it looks better too honestly.

In theory, 12s6p. i’ve seen it done.

In reality is a really tight fit and needs careful planning to make it work.

Thanks. Means a lot.

Im not sure multiple 6 month gaps in a project is “dedication” and the attention to detail is in everyone if you care enough.

Other footpad has finished printing after some printer issues (fuck 3d printers)

Time to trim all phase wires to length. get bullets on them. get them connected and heat shrunk.

Oh yes.

Still not sure on battery case orientation.

But im slowly coming round to @Venom121212’s way of thinking

With all your beautiful designs, I’m surprised you wouldn’t print a battery case to smoothly mount on top of the escs

Edit:
What CNC do you have? I’m quickly realizing i need this capability!

Coming back round to the idea of having the case inline with the deck.

Got the case modeled and then modified the ESC case cover to Have locating features for the pelicase.

Printed this and fitted it to the deck along with the MBS F5 Bindings

Put the pelicase back on to see how it fit.

yeah thinking that’s the winner.

looks very sleek and fits nicely between the bindings.

Then for fun i started trying other batteries i had in the garage.

The 2kWh lonestar pack is ridiculous. Might do for a test ride but not ideal.

Then i stumbled on some cell holders for another project.

This cant be unseen.
6x6 fits so nice on top.
A 12s3p P42A pack could be the perfect size pack racing.

Emtb build aside, this setup with a clear cover on top and a bottom mount battery would be unbelievably sexy for a street carver wanting maximum battery space underneath

This though had crossed my mind a fair few times during the build.

@ ducktaperules Thank you very great thread!

This build with 4x Maytech 6374 and 4x Turnigy Panther 6S 6000mAh is 23.7 kg.

(Then I changed wheels to PHATLADS 10 inches).

How much weighs yours?
