Am I the only one who would love to see something like this in the 120 mm range?

Found these tires locally, thinking in getting one for science and see how it fits, looks and feel. I’m a bit worried that it will vibrate too much on pavement

You could probably talk 3DS into putting some extra long axles in his FB320 hangers (and then capping them w/ e-toxx extensions as well, of course).

Hey guys, so we never got a really good answer to this imo. Could someone make like a little comparison or something. I heard @rich make a little comparison a while ago in the 8 vs 9" wheels thread. That the 9 inch increase the riding ability so much that he will never got back. Is this the same for widened wheel hubs? Talking about off-road in paticular now. Thanks in advance.

Testing the 3.00-4, I should’ve bought two so I can ride a bit with them, afraid of the consumption. Next is to made the adapter a bit wider and pump them more, it’s at just 20 PSI and I was afraid from popping out

That’s 10x3?

Will have to measure later, but I think 3" is close

I ride since over 1 year with 60mm wide hubs, I didn’t have any problems due to stretched tires.

No extra things or any magic, just inflate. For 9" or 8" their inner tube works but for 7" you need a 8" tube, don’t know about 6".

Well after riding 8" and 9" for a while now I have to say both have their pros and cons.

9" are much better in any heavy terrain or e.g. in the woods with roots. You have more clearance and traction. You can ride faster e.g. on gravel or grass and it feels safer. There are 2 cons with 9", they are pretty heavy I mean really heavy, just 4 naked tires about 2.4kg (5.3lbs). The second disadvantage is that you feel the added weight on the trucks and the bigger size which makes it less agile.

8" are nice for “normal” offroad and of course better for jumping because they are lightweight. They feel more agile and lively especially when (fast) carving. For smooth surfaces I prefer 8" but to ride everywhere 9" wins. 8" is like a car and 9" like a truck. However I like them both :man_shrugging:

According the width of the tires I’m not sure how big the difference in traction is. My first widened tires were some ultrastiff aliexpress clones. I recognized more traction but a bit more skidding on deep gravel. But I guess the stiff tires were the issue, I don’t skid on gravel anymore. It would be interesting to ride 2 boards on the same track one after another, one with widened hubs and the other with normal and same tires.

I can ride faster in the curves of the bmx track (dirt and a bit gravel, pic above) but I’m not sure if it’s the better traction of the wide hubs or just better skills compared to last year :man_shrugging:

Ok, so printed @Pedrodemio spacer in pla for test fit with sunmate wheels.

Either size slightly off, or subtle differences in mould shape so doesn’t fit straight out.

Will need filing or change in design at valve hole cover where it is larger than hole on Sunmate rims (had a quick go with metal file on one side) and Dremel? to get spoke insert to fit? The spoke insert shape is slightly different and slightly too tight to fit into the print.

Looks like print is a bit larger where spoke insert needs to be? As far as an assembly test, the M4 screws go in (but not straight - looks like BCD is very slightly different or print size is off) But OD at hub interface looks correct. Hmmm…?

Sideways images…?

Science is done.
Sunmate 150x50s on their stretched hubs. Tread ends up around 5mm wider.

ross have you run those yet?

I’m getting a different profile that you are… but that hard chine at the tire edge catches cracks for me and follows pavement irregularities…

Science only at the moment

The inflated shape on wider rims doesn’t look like it will be ideal. The Metroboard tires look like they form a better shape on the stretched rims.

oooooh sorry about that shit…

heal fast…

yeah I’m pretty convinced on the metros widened…
but running of straight up hubs the TB AT tires ain’t bad… widened they get a lil to sketch for my liking…
