Yeah when I have watched videos of CA/NYC? group rides and see large groups passing together through red lights and left turns and such it always worries me a little. I feel like slowing down to the point where you could stop if a car pulled out suddenly would be good. little less than 20mph ish I would be safer knowing I can tell the intersection is clear to cross.
I would not have guessed that one is the issues with not slowing down at all at a red could be a rider taking a stop by moving to the leftmost part of the lane suddenly while another rides takes it “full” speed. leftmost lane is always the fastest in the US so moving into it without checking for a hot car is what made me give it to the EUC.

in nyc noone really cares if you run a light. I’ve done it with cops right behind me so many times and never gotten a ticket. I just treats them like stop signs. slowdown/stop check if anythings coming and then go when safe. what’s really annoying is when people make random turns without any signal. and when people go down a lane in the wrong direction at full speed. unfortunately this is also common in nyc.

The EUC guy was in the wrong lane when he decided to go that lane. You can tell that the esk8er actually was going with the group until the EUC made that turn randomly.
Oh my gosh… don’t get me started with that “going the wrong lane” thing. They’re complete retards that can’t even stay on the right side when doing that. Nyc people knows the pain.

They really act as if they’re not at fault for going into my lane. I usually stay on my lane and make you hit me if you think you’re going the right way. The cops would even say I was in the right.
Another thing annoying would be pedestrians walking on a red light when you have the green and jaywalking without at least looking both ways. These morons man.

I’m pretty meticulous about signalling my turns bicycle-style. I don’t care if I’m the only guy doing it and it makes me look like a bit of a dufus. That one time I signal even though I tho I think there’s no-one around and there actually is will make it all worthwhile.
That said I do tend to carve back and forth a bit and I do worry that one of these days I’ll carve into a cyclist who’s trying to pass me without saying anything.
Some spandex cyclist passed me real close on the right yesterday without a sound and I thought man I’m glad I didn’t chose that moment to start carving.

How do you even know that? The police don’t ever seem to pay me any attention. I don’t run red lights, but stop signs…
