Who f*d up more in this group ride accident?

These west coast states people are just built different I guess

EUC decided to stop at the red light, probably wanted to stop at the median. Failed to look over shoulder or signal before making the turn. He’s lucky there wasn’t a car there or worst a car that was going to run the red.

Laroix was planning to run the red which is why he was going too fast to swerve or stop.

Utimately both are equally at fault for different violations. I blame Lacroix rider more because if he wasn’t planning to run the light he would’ve been slow enough to prevent this collision and tell the EUC rider to eat $hit. That light turned red before he even got close to the intersection. Definitely should never run that unless you are driving in a metal box.

Definitely the Lacroix rider. You shouldn’t be in a situation where you can’t break if the guy in front falls or breaks.
That’s not just smart for group rides but in general. If there is not enough space to safely overtake then don’t. Or at least do it slowly.

I disagree, he was going stupid fast into that red light… almost just almost looks as if it was intentional

Signal if you’re changing lanes, say on your left or right if you’re passing… Both fucked that up.

Don’t change lanes in an intersection, don’t speed up into a red light… Both fucked that up as well.

They both fucked up, and share the fault, imo. But more importantly, isn’t it a felony to throw something at someone from a moving vehicle? Looks like they may have the license plate of that car that threw the drink. Too many idiots and assholes out there.

They could get them for littering too lol

Euc all the way, he would have died if it was a car coming up.

The vehicle behind usually has entire responsibility to avoid hitting a vehicle or person in front of him, whatever that vehicle or person is doing. That’s what the road code typically says. That implies keeping safety margins to cater for the unexpected. In that case, the unexpected was REALLY unexpected, and unpredictable, and it’s certainly hard to anticipate that and avoid collision.
But then if you decide to accelerate and run that red light 100m ahead, then of course, your safety margin is all thrown away, and you’ve demonstrated that you don’t really care about safety distance anyway… That’s reckless riding from Mr Lacroix.

But then there’s the moral aspect of it, if Mr EUC didn’t randomly swerve at last minute, then, most likely no accident would have occurred.

Shared responsibility, but from a legal, insurance point of view, the fault would be 100% Lacroix rider.

Ok let’s split it, euc’s fault for the accident, LC riders responsibility to avoid the accident, let’s leave the legality of the red light out of it, who here has never broken a law

moments before the crash the Lacroix looks left to check for cars as he’s about to run the light, if he didn’t try to run the light he would have had more time to prevent the crash and move around the euc

As bad as it is, I chuckled when he got the drink, but Im told I don’t have feelings because I’m a sociopath

I would have turned that group ride into a hunting party though.

you can’t really ignore the red light here. EUC rider did stop for the red light, and while doing so positioned himself on left lane, only to be mowed down by rider behind who clearly didn’t intend to stop.

I understand your reasoning, but to say the LC rider is at fault because he was running the red light, I don’t think that’s a valid point because we all have broken laws, we can’t wag our finger and say “”your bad.”

Both will be blame’d for the accident, it’s like riding ski/snowboard, you have to watch you surroundings carefully and be prepared for everything.
always take care about your brothers who ride with you, no matters they are in front or back of you

we all broke laws, for sure. But when everyone does stop at the red light and the one who doesn’t causes an accident, then it’s quite an important factor.

I got rear ended once in my car, as I hit the brakes at a yellow/red light, and the driver behind accelerated instead. He gave me abuse, lots of it, even questioned why I stopped… he got plenty in return too. Witnesses and cops obviously cleared me up. His insurance still billed mine for half of damages because I had a towbar, and I was therefore responsible to the aggravated damage to the car behind. Stupid French laws about shared responsibility and towbars…

Big groups are scary, no need to ride in convoys… Just catch up at the next landmark

That’s why I don’t ride with crazy large groups… because mistakes happen. In my opinion both of them are at fault for not making sure it’s clear, the EUC dude just went for it even though he probably saw the lacroix rider coming really fast and the lacroix ride should have slowed down as soon as that guy turned his head… not sped up. Regardless the major dick is the guy who threw the smoothie, I would have chased him down and chucked it back in his car with that traffic…
