Wheel comparison thread!

maybe - there’s really something to it. I still cannot understand it fully. I’ll be testing these Ahmyo’s out very soon, to see if there’s a difference (Such beautiful wheels! white unfortunately)

I’ve been running those for a bit, so far they are a bit hard but not awful… honestly wouldn’t recommend then for long distance but it’s been great for my light weight board

Did you also happen to use the same bearings? In addition to wheels, bearings can have drastic differences. Even cranking down differently on the same set of bearings could produce different results. I would ride both wheels for about 20 miles and then do a comparison. By then, the bearings should have settled if they’re different.

Duro and rebound are essentially one and the same. Duro is derived from the degree of rebound.

Edit for clarity: they are inversely related relatively

That having been said, testing methods aren’t standardized so it could be different across the board

I think I need to get a second opinion on this, I don’t feel like this is correct. There are high rebound but super soft wheels, and low rebound harder wheels.

I’d like to know, is there a specific measurement for rebound? Or do we just take the makers word for it along with how they feel when riding? I know what high and low rebound feels like, maybe @RipTideSports could chime in here…

Same bearings… really can’t understand it, anyway the ahmyos ride beautifully, so smooth and long rolling distance. About to chuck those China wheels… only studying them a little more I find out why.

Maybe core stiffness is just as important? Beats me

Durometer and rebound are NOT essentially the same. As duro goes up for the same compound family, rebound goes down, they have an inverse relationship.

Sorry my phrasing could have been better but they are related to each other, just inversely.

Best wheel >80mm?

If anyone has first hand tried more then one of these wheels to help me make a decision please give me your input, this is for a compact short board build, coyote deck, 149mm tkp calibers. Single maytech 6374.

76mm Ahmyo akasha 79a
80mm orangutan Kegal 77a
78mm venom Mach one 74/76a

Biggie hawgs were on the list but I’m unsure about how long it would take for me to get around to fabricate a pulley. I’m also unsure on the availability of the venom pulleys as of now, I’ll have to check but I know they are being used.

I tried the Kegel on an exway X1 pro Riot before and they’re surprisingly quite ok, feels similar with my 90mm Boosted clones :+1:

I am currently riding 85mm 77a Caguama on my Foosted and I think they’re LIT :fire: Hands down the best wheels I’ve ridden :100:

Got to agree with Jun. I like “small” wheels what a world we live in atm calling 85mm wheels small for a Longboard but anyways I have good roads in my city so no need for Mee to go with bigger pu wheels.

No clue have not tried this wheels

Not this wheel to.

If u just gonna Cruise and no sliding and cool stuff I recommend 77A happytane wheels.

Are the cags and the kegal different compounds?

They’re the same compound - Happy thane by orangatang :+1:
Just sizing difference

got 1 set spare

Does the 5mm make that much difference between the Kegal and the cags?

The venom is pretty wide right? I’m worried about running out of hanger for my mount and pully on such a narrow truck.

With single motor you might be fine.

Foosted?

Foosted means fake boosted, DIY boards that mimics Boosted are called Foosted no?
