If I take my cheap eBay clone wheels and make a jig, drill some holes in the sides with a drill press, would it make it more shock absorbent? They are pretty firm now and I have a stretch of road that rattle my teeth on the way to work.

Weight is not an issue.
My theory is that the holes will allow the wheel to compress over the rough road, as long as I don’t weaken it so much that I’m riding on the wheels with the holes compressed permanently.

You’re essentially trying to make something like these rubber wheels. Which are comfy btw, but range is equivalent to pneumatics and you don’t get half the shock absorption bonuses. They also slide around on the wet, which is ironic as they are sold as “rain wheels” 
Yes I looked at those once before, they are quite pricy iirc, more then 100$. 20$ Knock off Wheels I have and drill press I have. But that is what I was thinking of doing to my cheapos.
I used those bad boys once. Honestly they weren’t bad, just no reason to run them over pneumatics in my opinion.
I wonder if the more narrow contact patch gives that wheel is pneumatic feel
I don’t care for the size of the pneumatic wheels, I have trouble storing my board at work already.
I’m going to go for it. I’ll post a thread with the process and results. I also have a mini lathe, maybe I’ll taper them down a bit after I ride with the holes.

A lot of people have put a lot of $ time and effort towards this concept, drilling holes normally results in a hard, soft harmonic that is no fun. Makes a lot of sense and I was sure people had given it a go before.
