Veiftech - DIY upgraded Leiftech V2

how much profit is there per wheel and how much development is the recouping/ paying for?

closely adjusted

my way to final check this is to 3d print a model of the PCB with brushes and check that vs the real disk

Why such different measures?

oh the brushes right… Those prob need a touch up.

I would definitely do like 5 detections and average the results after tossing any outliers.

That top one looks off.

yeah there was so much fucking dirt in it I can’t even show you a picture

weird but now after cleaning, regreasing, resetting brush heights. Still the top one seems way off… Whats sup with that?

Something is seriously fucked up

why the time I use an extremely large amount of Loctite… It seems to need to be torn right back apart

Swap the motors and do the detection again. Do the numbers change sides?

Swapping the motors would be great but they are hard soldered in to the brushes… I have been too lazy/not needed to add bullets to them yet.

Hell if I need to upgrade to SK3s to solve the problem that would be great.

hmm oh wait I can swap entire modules…

Does this info help?

When I hit the throttle without giving the motor a push (the one reading low current) it goes backwards? and at a low speed

Maybe hardwire them to the ESC (or another ESC) and see what those detections look like, without the brushes. Just temporarily.

haha once I attach bullets I can do that too, For now I’ll try swapping the modules to see if it is the motor or what.

Yep the issue/ weird noises have traveled with the motor.

ok I was getting detection failed so I tried changing Cycle ingegrator limit form default 60 to 100 and it got worse, changed it to 20 and detection worked. Might be getting somewhere, but I think this is the motor that was fine oops so no progress I guess

OK on the motor with issues I tried turning ERPM and duty cycle up for detection, makes sense to me given the 400KV motor.

got a good detection out of it but have no idea what I’m doing

Would love if I had an EE helping me but I’ll blaze onward.
@Gamer43 if you got time I got weird shit going on.

hell yeah my random fucking around fixed it

:sunglasses: time to ride this bitch very fast

Hmm I really need to get some VESC 6’s (Cheapfocers would be perfect) in here and free these damn focboxes

indoor test before I carry this thing 1/8th of a mile to the bike path shows it has plenty of torque and appears to not be getting errors.

I noticed power getting low and one motor getting super hot on my last ride and thought it was maybe just the brushes, they turned out to be pretty dirty. After cleaning though it seemed to have a shorted out motor coil.

Tried riding it back which worked until I really smoked the shit.

Will tear it down asap and hopefully I can discern what the cause was if I did not roast the whole thing too bad.

When I went to cut the motor wires off the slip ring I noticed one wire was loose so I could presume this is what caused the failure.

The wire they used was very stiff, I just got this 14Awg should be perfect.

huh guess I need to buy an SBX to figure out exactly wtf he is talking about…

Need a custom app for the VESC

Are they neodymium magnets? BTW… just found your progress on this build… OMG !! You are the fucking man. So I have a v2, dose not work. Been faulty from day 1 and Leif tech blocked me because they did not want to deal with all the issue that were broke from day 1. Going to follow your progress and see if maybe I can fix mine one day

oh yeah I can fix the everloving crap out of your board. Me and @Ean.esk8 are here to help ya!

thought you meant on the burnt out motor but on my last post yeah they are just normal disc magnets.

I assume they make it so the board knows when it is sliding and it can vary the power as you enter and exit the slide. As Aaron said whatever the feature is you can accomplish it with an IMU and no caster position readings instead.
