Well for that a set of cheap helping hands with led light and a fan blowing behind me lol, it was a few seconds of soldering
Have you tried doing 1/2" copper braid to nickel out of curiosity? That’s the only thing that’s frozen my 60W weller unit a few times with a chisel tip (basically the TS-K tip).
not with the ts100 but with my stationary 65watt t12 station with d16 and K cranked to 400c though, personally not the biggest fan of the knife tip
I have no idea how one solders to braid using a small iron
personally I apply solder to the braid first, and tin the wire a bit too, then some flux and a tiny bit of solder, everything melts together
What do you consider a small iron?
Used my Miniware TS100 last night for the first time with a laptop PSU I had lying around, running at 20V 2.5A.
Was so awesome not having to worry about the state of charge on my 6S LiPo I used before.
Now to find the unobtanium 24V 2.5A DC5525 laptop PSU I’ve been looking for. Any tips?
They’re all over Amazon, and I would go with 3A
Something like this (the 3A version)?
You want adjustable voltage?
Not really needed, just the only one I could find with the specs I need and a 5525 jack.
Just search 24v 3a power supply on Amazon, if it’s not 5525…just replace the connector, also available on Amazon
…the first one that comes up for me is 5525
The one I linked is cheaper and comes with an AU plug.
So that’s not the issue…lol
You don’t have extras of those laying around?
I was looking for something that everyone is using? Not just general recommendations.
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of 3A though. So it’s okay to drive the TS100 a little harder than spec?
It draws only what it needs, having a higher rating supply keeps the supply happy and cooler
If you have old printers or just their power supplies some of those were 24v
If i discard electronics i always keep the power supply
this is the stuff that im using for larger stuff:
ts100, 25.5V power supply (Mean Well LRS-100-24), C4 tip & D24.
1 lbs, 16 Gauge solder
flux
It says here that “you’ve been having sleepless nights because a man on the internet isn’t butting his wire insulation up against the face of the cup terminal when soldering?”
How is the ts100 compared to the t12? I have the same t12 station and my iron kinda freaks out when soldering things like battery leads
freaks out? how so
