Will you be posting the video again?
I understand if you dont want to do so on your own channel, as youtube isnt very forgiving with their own poorly handled system⦠But would you consider allowing someone else to post it without Ads, the word āvescā in the title, or any affiliation with your own shop?
Once again, youāre completely off-mark
Apex is a CUSTOM BOARD vendor. Literally using your components in their builds. Not only is is 100% moral and 100% legal for someone like this to review products and compare, but some of the best vehicle review channels are also custom shops.
as long as @Lee_Wright isnāt manufacturing any escs, then he can review / test / bash / hate any product on the market, thatās his choice.
if @Trampa thinks the word āVESCā is used in violation of its ā¢, then you should talk to google about removing the 1million+ search result that shows up when the phrase āVESCā is searched that its neither vesc-project.com or your own website
just sayin
Im pretty much an outsider on all this.
Here is my 2 cents from reading the thread.
Vesc the word has, is, and will be used to talk/discuss about ESCās.
Someone needs to get over it, and be happy that āVescā is even brought up.
Vesc is BV not TRAMPAās so again STFU and let people be people.
Giving someone a channel strike/claim is just beyond being an a**hole.
Some people are trying to make a living off the content they make.
So for anyone to blatantly take a video down for a few letters āvescā is pretty damaging.
Keep gunning at the community that feeds you can well, we will see what happens.
Anyone calling a FS, UNITY, MAKERX, etc a VESC is fine and should be fine.
It has become what we all know as the standard FW on most ECSās.
Why should we have to call them ESC that run VESC⦠seems like a mouthful, When I can
simply say I run a Vesc Unity. This would explain to most anyone that I have a Unity (ESC) but
it runs on VESC. I think the only confusion being made here is by trying to separate the 2 things
that are already logically separated.
I will be sure to tag my videos with UNITY VESC from now on.
Only the haters will not understand its meaning and flag it.
No I wont be, out of respect for Benjamin Vedder - let me explain.
What I want to clarify here is that I did actually put VESC in the title of that video, and I described the unit as a VESC. This is not correct. I know that is the language we all use to describe these devices, they look like a VESC, act like a VESC, use the VESC firmware (or a modified version if not yet supported) and you use the VESC tool to configure themā¦but they actually are not a VESC. VESC is a trademark owned by Ben Vedder, that was granted in 2018. I do believe if someone was to challenge this in court then there is ample evidence to show prior art and the trademark would not stand. That said I have the utmost respect for BV and he was not happy with the way I described the unit in the video, that will 100% not happen again. Ben owns the Trademark - NOT Trampa. I dont know the deal between Trampa and Ben, but Trampa licences it in some way and therefore have the legal right to defend that TM. What would be really good for this community, is to come up with a name that collectively describes all the controllers that are based on the VESC project and we move away from naming them as VESCās - out of respect for BV.
I hold up my hand that I shouldnāt have called the unit a VESC, what I cant understand is there are literally hundreds of examples of this on the internet and yet my video is the only video singled out for this. I can only guess that there are commercial reasons for this. Whatever, I dont care to be honest. I will correct my mistakes and carry on producing videos and Apex will carry on producing products. It is so warming to have the backing of the community in this endeavour. I have always strived to just show you the good and bad in everything, I try and be 100% honest and this causes friction with bad actors.
oh boy
This has gone far beyond the TM imo.
Channel strikes are a real thing and can actually effect your content.
Lets say your channel had past strikes, this could have been your last.
How would the striker know this? they wouldnāt and would they even care to see you leave?
Thats the issue to me, you was not asked you just got striken down.
When the community is close enough to knock (dm) on each other door.
Itās just wrong in so many ways to take action behind our backs.
Especially with this strike can effect things on your end.
Im sure they would not be apologizing if this strike removed your channel.
That would I think have been the goal on their end and if not. Now you know your
being watched. So its like your being hunted with a finger on the Strike trigger.
That my friend is fuck⦠So what Trampa is doing if they are is just wrong.
I agree yes and I do now have a channel strike. I dont know how long that hangs around for these days.
Me and the Wife have talked and might burn our Trampaās. ( Real Talk )
Then again we can sell them and buy some VESCās from Flipsky ( Fake Talk )
Well hell yah! maybe its not as bad as it used to be.
Still Strikes are no good, we as creators know this.
holy shit bro i did say you would summon frank
At this point the only thing I want to know isā¦
- Acceptable
- Impolite
0 voters
And itās not about laws, itās just about being a human, mr. Frank.
I never got into Trampa gear. I nearly did a couple of times but I ended up going on different directions each time for various reasons⦠and Iāll admit that Frankās behaviour was a factor.
Trampaās media is verifiably first-fucking-class though. I love Amonās stuff and I have the greatest respect for what that does for Trampa and for the broader perception of esk8 in general.
But this whole VESC malarky is just far-out fucking nonsense. I remember it all kicking off with the VESC-X/Focbox debacle - rolling my eyes at it even then - but the collateral damage thatās accumulating all along the way here just defies belief. Itās so vicious and so completely unnecessary. Itās like Amon & team generate all this great PA and then Frank comes along and drives a coach and horses through it.
Such a pity. I wonāt be changing directions anytime soon and I wouldnāt recommend Trampa to anyone who asks.
I will start the bidding at, āVESCKā : Vedder Electronic Speed Controller Kit.
Please donāt push shitty trash from Flipsky! ⦠that is a another can of conflict of interest and integrity.
Iāve been considering doing this for a while, however there two things that stopped me.
First is finding a good name things like OpenESC are already taken, OpenFOC might be ok but kinda steals from shaaman, i looked at a few others but couldnāt find an obvious choice.
Second is making sure itās ok with ben, especially since the only realistic way forward at the moment is to continue having him do all the development work for a hijacked version of his project.
Once thatās all settled Itād be pretty easy to spin up a website with links to every supported ESC, and even a rebranded fork of the tool that simply changes the labeling.
Would also be helpful to have community support before starting or else you run the risk just throwing an extra layer of confusion into the mix.
That trampa website thoughā¦
