Lol hold up, took things public?

Isn’t that what you did… with the start of this thread? Instead of dealing with @yongitech through email or PM, you posted this to bash them.

I honestly don’t know you man, but you don’t represent your brand well at all. You’re losing customers with this.

I don’t wish to air the dirty laundry in public any further. BV I consider a hero and I would never do anything intentional to upset him. My post to you this morning was made before I contacted BV and was my initial reaction to your actions.

I have said my piece and I continue to take small snippets of Bens precious time to continue reasonable dialogue (without your involvement).

All dogs have their day Frank, hope you remember that.

Wait wait hold on I’m confused… It’s OK for you to potentially have put God knows how many businesses out of the picture for edit* trademark* infringement, while you were stating that you removed the name Velcro from all of your products and items that you distribute and sell…

Yet in the video and someone just posted a few posts up have one of your employees specifically stating that you are using Velcro in your monster box? why is that Ok Frunk? In the civilized world I believe that would be considered hypocrisy at its finest.

Beyond all this and other bullshit drama you have brought to the community, this is a very small deal in the grand scheme of things but just so others are aware I designed and developed and began small scale manufacturing on mud guards for pneumatic wheels and had a string of probably 50 emails total back-and-forth with Frink sharing my design and specifically very directly asking for a yes or no if I could collaborate with Trampa with my product.

I could not get a yes or no after very simply asking so many times and discussing the design and project over so many emails… low and behold shortly after (probably during our emails) he designed and puts out his own mudguard system (which he admitted using cheap Chinese mud guards from some scooter)… yet is often claiming their products are manufactured locally and not cheap Chinese rebranded products which is exactly what their mud guards are… that say Trumpa on them… :face_with_monocle:

It is undoubtedly superior to mine, but very likely not a coincidence in timing of product release and neglecting to give me a simple yes or no to my regretful inquiry. I know it’s my fault completely, but just wanted to vent a little of my frustration with Frenk’s everlasting lack of ethics.

By the way I did visit their headquarters when I was visiting London earlier last year and have to throw out that the co-owner/I believe original founder of Trampa, Ted Orr is a really great, down to earth, cool dude who hosted my girlfriend and I for the day and even took us out for a pub crawl in the evening before returning back to London.

To those who are quick to label so many of us as vendor bashing a legitimate company that sells quality products, its not so much the company as it is Franp and his extreme hypocrisy and basic ethics.

Edit* karma’s a bitch and what cums around goes around.

This was posted via voice to text and am done re reading and editing my post, so for all you grammar nazis, deal with it and you can figure out what I mint… as in chocolate chip.

Why shouldn’t we use VELCO tape in our boxes?
We also use Jessup griptape and could state that in a video.

With regards to the Mudguards. It’s been done for quite a while and not your idea. You came up with a design that is suitable for low volume production.

The problem with mudguards is their sturdy attachment to the truck or drive. These are the expensive parts. And we have all the different drives and wheel sizes to considre. It’s not easy to design something that fits all our products and upcoming products. Each setup requires different adaptor parts and different fender sizes.
I know all our gear by heart, so I can figure it out with more ease. The time it would take me to explain all that to someone taking the design job is probably more than just doing the work myself.

I never started with mudguard designs earlier, due to the fact that we changed our designs a lot in the past and moulds are expensive and can’t be changed easily. Each time we change a drive, we would need to change the mudguards.

In 2021 I will probably start to design a cheaper UK made fender for injection moulding.

Which is why it took you some 2 months of us emailing and not giving me any sort of yes or no after being directly asked the entire time while rapidly designing a solution. You’ve been making boards how long and had how many drives? Funny how you suddenly came up with a solution while dodging my question in emails and feeding me bs until you suddenly had them for sale. Not one email and we’re asked over 10 times. Whatever I forgot Phrank cunt ever admit anything and is more honest than honest Abe.

How does that all fit into this debate?
We did not steel your ideas or IP. We went for our own design. I expressed my concerns and looked into a different solution, more suitable for our boards. We looked into fenders long time before you contacted us, but I always pushed it a bit from my table, due to the facts mentioned above.
One day we rattled something up in our warehouse and figured out that it could actually work and then I sat down and designed all the parts needed.

Well this is all just unfortunate. As a YouTube creator myself, to see someone hit a channel with a strike for anything other than simply stealing their content (which is what that system is meant for), essentially puts them in one of the lowest positions possible.

And I’m proud to consider @Lee_Wright a friend. Which makes it worse.

The amount of time and money it takes to generate that level of content is fairly significant, and I don’t think it should be taken lightly to see someone exercise power in a way that abuses the copyright system on YouTube to silence valid content that takes time, effort, and artistry to produce.

I published a scathing video criticizing a Onewheel competitor, with the name in the title, and neither company filed a strike. Future Motion, one of the most litigious companies in that industry, doesn’t even go after content like that.

I had intended to outright order an Urban Carver to build a battery for and ride in NYC, but I just don’t feel comfortable doing that now. Certainly lost a new customer here. And my DIY Onewheel project will also have to find a new controller option, as I’m not comfortable buying a Trampa ESC for it.

Theres no point, I will take the better path of producing good products and offering people an alternative.

Thank you @TheBoardGarage and everyone else that supports the work I do on youtube. I wont stop doing what I do, I will carry on growing the channel and providing an informed opinion on all products to enable people to vote with their wallet.

Keep doing you man.

I’ve watched about half your videos and love the content. Learned how to build a battery from one of them. Your opinion and reviews on companies & products is respected here!

Will you still be producing the videos on the Ubox? I for one was really looking forward to them and would be sad not to see the follow ups :expressionless:

@Trampa, as a complete neutral on this (I too was looking to buy an urban carver and potentially still will…), a lot of people are calling you out for hypocrisy over Velcro… Can you confirm that your products use true velcro? Whilst I don’t agree with hitting Lee on YouTube over calling something a VESC, I understand you’re trying to protect the brand and also Vedders work.

…while running and growing an esk8 online business and linking to it from youtube…

Imagine VW having a youtube channel that would inform about cars, so that people can vote with their wallet. Would be a bit funny and legally difficult.

Absolutely, we will probably stock it in our shop if the testing goes well. Frank, I’m not doing anything illegal and you know it.

I bet Benjamin Vedder hates that you post publicly.

Yeah that’s what I don’t get. I generally understand where Frank is coming from. But the handling of these situations just seems so krassly executed.

No attack Lee, but one day soon you might need to decide if you are Lee the independent DIY Youtuber or Lee from Apex Customs. I can see a growing confict of interest, depending how you structure your business and what you offer. If you offer esk8 parts, then you shouldnt do comparisons, other than between the parts ones you offer in your shop. This is just a hint from my side and no attack.

And to think… All of this could’ve been handled privately via pm, email, text, or whatever.

It’s actually embarrassing that threads like this have to exist for Frank.

I think you are misunderstanding the situation.

If I’m manufacturing parts, then of course I shouldn’t do comparisons (even though legally you can, morally I think you shouldn’t)

What I absolutely can do is review whatever I please and then based on my findings stock whatever I chose to in our shop. I will never have to choose between the two.

What you actually see, is a threat to your business because I will never talk about your stuff ever again.
