Ok, so for me it’s all about getting back on the road as soon as possible, and the cheapest option right here right now would be 6355 motors.
I only see two options:
Alien in 130kv, stated as 2200w, these are cheap and I can get them fast, kinda a no brainer, but they are not sealed.
Maytech sealed 6355 motors in 170kv, not so cheap, stated as 3510w max.
What would you suggest, an overall better motor but higher KV, or a cheap one, beeing a weaker one, but with a fairly good KV?
@dickyho sells so pretty good budget motors.
The one I got works really well.
My build is anything, but budget
not going that route…
Go with maytech
yeah pretty ballzy going in sand with that clearance with UNSEALED motors :o
Wuda thought the sand/gravel that got in was the reason why the motor broke
I have never had sealed motors, and never had sand related issues, sooo yeah, but these two will be much better. Motor broke because of the direct impact.
And she’s back! Battery was basically empty, but she seems to ride fine, last time I had major drag issues while coasting, now it all seems good, everything is hella loctited and will be hard tested tomorrow. Ideas for the future are a push to start ( a must) waiting for some reviews of the Flipsky one, also VX2 remote is In mind, I’m probably buying new shredlights and only will be making permanent lights in the winter, once it’s off season.
Listen not sure if this has been covered and I have read all the rear mount comments but why are you not running those drives inside? Is it the hammocks? I am only saying this because they are still too low for rear. For some god only knows reason outside motors get the most problems. When you tuck them up under the deck with all the confinement they seem to survive even though everything is directed at them
@Dareno
The answer is pretty simple, I have a ton of sidewalks in my route, and when you are driving up on one, forward facing motors would hit the curb, before the rear tires would, this is the main reason. It still hits tho, but not as harsh. The drives take all the abuse.
Wow I feel like it’s the urban doing the slaying
Nah, the board runs fine, I’m slaying the streets
I just realized you have the gear drives mounted with the truck clamp on the inside of them, rather than outside. Maybe if you got longer axles and mounted it the other way round, you’d have clearance for the longer motors you wanted to use?
Also, damn, thanks for testing Moon’s drives against all that abuse!
@rusins I have never encoutered this idea, but I don’t think it was ment to work like that? Maybe @moon could shed some light on it?
These just barely clear the hanger in front. I’ll see how I like them after a few days, but that flashlight common, long throw narrow light beam just grinds my gears.
On some gear ratios you can do it
Since I’m starting to like the hummie deck a bit more and thoughts of a Lonestar still shred my wallet, I will start to upgrade the ride a bit more to my liking. So current things to do:
Swap the charger port and the acctual charger to a 4A one, these will soon be done.
Get a more stable remote than a Maytech one. Used a Photon that sucked much…have a Maker x one, which I don’t really like, maybe it’s an older one and needs a FW update…Ossrs seems not to be in production at the moment @DerelictRobot (i can’t get an anwser from you) , not liking the Vx1, but liking Vx2, but the later one seems to have mixed reviews.
Any remote I’m missing? Telemetry is a must, light switch would be perfect.
Now I have a few ideas of swaping axles to 100mm ones, and swaping bushings to one duro less, with idea being to have the same stability as i have now, but with a bit more flowines (?) to the ride.
Drivetrain…So I do feel I want bigger motors, but this is hard to achieve. I could buy @akhlut axles, but I need way more reviews to feel comfortable buying them.
I’m contaplating an option to mod the geardrive adapters a bit, to allow difreant motors…
And finnaly gearing, 3dservisas speed calculator gives me these values:
the board tops out at only 46kmh! what I’m missing?
Thank you.
