The End of Boosted?

Am I missing something? Why hasn’t a 3rd party started producing a boosted compatible extended range battery?

There was someone selling packs to add onto already working ones to extend the range but these only works on SR packs afaik and no longer a thing

So literally no one is talking about the main solve point for the issue facing current Boosted owners and that’s someone reversing the BMS auth board so OEMs can make replacement packs, motors are nothing special but a majority of the time theres a failure it’s battery related, if a supplier can step in to provide packs and motors with the proprietary connectors then that will mitigate a majority of the service issues for the gen2/3 boards.

So I’ve got a boosted stealth that has about 20 miles on it .I bought it as a fillin board while I waited for my next daily. Fortunately I bought it for only £650 , but even at 650 I would like to think it’s possible to fit different motors or a replacement after market battery if I ever need to .I this possible assuming Boosted doesn’t rise from the ashes .I will never see a lot of miles do Hopfully will last anyway but it’s good to know Incase .

I was going to do this on my Boosted v1 board.

no need to reverse engineer the bms, we’ll just buy the bms circuit from the manufacturer!

No no! If we can reverse engineer it we can use other battery packs by let the esc thinking that everything is still ok.

eh I guess it’s better to have multiple options
but if you have to add an esp866 to an existing pack to do the translation, or use a more expensive open source bms, i’m not sure it’s the best for business. and united states pack makers have to consider which approach results in the lowest liability (because lawsuits). at the end of the day the folks who need this will be googling “boosted batteries for sale” anyway, and will be happy to buy a pack made for their application, they’re not the type to try to adapt an existing pack for use in their boosted boards

VC money often forces founders to prove their value by launching all sorts of harebrained product campaigns… sadly

Why stop at scooters?? A Super 73 competitor makes a lot of sense being in the premium space boosted was trying to occupy. Also they did change their name and branding from “Boosted Boards” to simply “Boosted” in order to launch the scooter.

With the sheer number of one wheel pints I’ve seen in the past 6 months in my city, which is a baby to the PEV game, I see no chance OneWheel will be following the same fate anytime soon.

Maybe if boosted stops paying rent we can get access, through auction or something like, to what must be an utterly massive stockpile of bad battery packs somewhere. lol

Also was reading that the UART comm at the BMS is encrypted, there’s a 10 pin UART port somewhere on it you can access tho so someone with a bigger forehead than I for electronics may be able to work some magic.
