At minimum you want it to be adjustable and at least 80w

Its 60w, biggest I’ve soldered was 8AWG and that worked pretty well.

I’ve also done decent solders on 10awg with a 24w iron, but it’s not reliable and not as easy as it should be. You can get a pretty cheap 80w iron that will cover most of your bases

yeah if I need to solder without wicking I whip out my fat tip 130W iron lmao

I’ve run into a little bit of a problem I could use your opinions. I was making good progress on the Flux AT2 battery (12s9p + P42a).

I tried to a fit test and unfortunately, there is a gap.

Questions

  1. Should I redo my solder connections to make them flatter? Should I redo it with something like a copper braid?
  2. Do I need to make a gasket? What materials do you use for making that?

PS: This has been a great adventure for me and I would be lost without y’all. Thank you for all help and support!

I don’t have much to add except that I’m going to be running into the same problem here shortly so I’m interested in what you figure out :slight_smile:

Braid would reduce the thickness and @glyphiks recommended using X vs = configuration.

These are you p-groups right? Did they fit before the copper series wires?

I’ve fit 12s10p 21700 in the AT2 with additional foam sealing padding.
You’ll need longer bolts too. 20mm works fine.

Do you have links for the screws and gasket material?

Screws are basic DIN 912 m5 20mm ones from the local hardware shop. The tape can be found here but it’s a Lithuanian store, not gonna be of much help.
It’s very squishy so fills up the gaps good. Though, I’m yet to see how it will hold up to puddles.

Help! I left my board in my garage for 2 weeks while trying to make room for it inside but it’s already winter and it’s been too cold. I finally being it in now and the 16s battery is at 40.2V (using my multimeter at the main xt90) meaning 2.5V per cell. It was at 3.8V each 2-3 weeks ago, after I last rode it. My charger won’t charge it now. Is the BMS stopping the board from accepting a charge because the voltage is too low? The lights on the BMS are still flashing. Is my battery ruined? :sob::sob::sob:

Quite possibly.

Probably not, 2.5v/cell is still within the normal operating range of li-ion cells, if only barely.

You should be able to charge the battery directly (going around the BMS).
Your charger may not like it, so an adjustable power supply may be needed.

Make sure you let the battery sit inside for a while to come up to room temp before trying to charge it. Also, a slower charging rate is going to be preferable.

Its been maybe 6 hours since I bought it inside. Could it still “warm up” a little and the voltage could go higher on its own? Should I unscrew the battery enclosure to allow the room air to get in? How long to wait before charging? 48hrs?

2.5v/cell is a-ok. Good thing you caught it. Have any idea of what drained it?

Also make sure it’s actually 2.5v/cell and it’s informally drained.
