The battery builders club

Oh, thanks I was about to order a LTT. What’s the best place to by a Daly smart?

Fuck how do you find out if it is a LifePo4? Someone gave me that one so I dont know.

It won’t be LiFePo4, 12S LiFePo4 is 36V and daly actually makes those, they always put 36.
Daly themselves don’t sell 12S Liion bms without custom request, but on Ali you can find daly bms with another name printed on them for 12S Li ion 12S Smart BMS 30A 40A 60A with Bluetooth Android APP for 48V 50.4V Li ion Battery Pack UART CAN RS485 Communication|Battery Accessories| - AliExpress etc etc

The end cap is weird, check the picture…

I don’t see any tests online but I know they’re 5000 mah and comparable to the Samsung 50E. Like all high capacity 21700 cells it probably has a very low discharge rate of around 10 at best, most likely 5-7. You’d probably need low discharge or a lot of p groups for them.

I use them for lights and for a surprise, so no high amp stuff yet on them for me.

More info on my pack that stopped charging.

All P groups but the first are at 3.8 volts. The first group is 4.1 volts. Could the bms be stopping the charge because of a cell close to full?

Very likely. That’s generally how a BMS balances cells: When the highest cell reaches near-full, it stops the charging, and drains that one cell back down, then continues charging. Rinse and repeat until all the cells are evenly charged.

When @Battery_Mooch says they are not the best for large esk8 battery builds for multiple reasons, I find it’s best to listen and keep looking for the next best thing.

Oops. My bad there.

Probably a sign that I really should be getting some rest.

why i dont ride any packs that aint built by my hand since i build packs now, cause china packs on any pev, boards, scoots, unis are more then likely built like shit.

My balance cables are too short, will it be fine to solder a piece of cable to make it longer?

It works good if you have baby heatshirk tubing.

Yeah I have some, I am going to have to do that.

When I lengthen the balance lines I usually use that as an excuse to just take it back to a good point and replace with silicone wire. I also use the white heatshrink tubing that has the low temp solder in it that you use a lighter to activate.

That is a good idea but I don’t think I have Silicone wire of that size.

The skinny suff is cheap as shit. Its just the larger stuff that gets expensive and you can get the tinny white solder heat shrink tubes off of ali

Yeah they aren’t expensive, just can’t find Silicone wires here and aliexpress has been a no go since last year. We have very limited flights from this side of the world coming here so shipping gets really slooooooow or expensive.

Don’t you guys have ebay in your part of the world too? If not, thats a big money niche for you right there.

:joy: think Tama is in Tahiti, gonna be hard to start a local ebay there. Gonna be a few delivery issues.

Well if you’re the only guy selling niche stuff everyone’s gonna buy from you, sooo…

There gotta be DIY guys in Tahiti too, right?
