The battery builders club

I remember seeing someone stick the KWeld probes into one of those spring loaded welding pens, but I think just using the probes by themselves works the best.

KWeld is better than the sequere, no doubt about it. KWeld controls the amount of energy that goes into the weld, while the Sequere just controls the time. Controlling the energy gets much more consistent results than just controlling time.

thanks a lot
will prob go for that then

any other tips or anything that is worth buying together with the kweld?

You will need a power source - this Lipo works great for me and many others.

I just bought a 5ah one of these for my kweld. Also, hobbywing is annoying they charge $17 for ground shipping a battery that’s less than 60wh…

yeah had issues in the past with a single 5Ah one not lasting long enough (and welds were inconsistent) hopefully 8Ah would be a bit better

Worst case I buy a second one

I always try to wait until I need $100 worth of hobbyking stuff to get free shipping :ok_hand:

I stocked up on XT30, 60, 90, heatshrink, and snap blades and that got me to $100 easy

Oh shit my total was like $90 and I didn’t know this. Damnit

What welder?

sequere. great welds but you needed to up the time when the battery got to lower charge

Yeah that’s the problem

dont agree at all

it was a very good welder and i know many people who use it very succesfully

That’s exactly why KWeld is great. No matter what the current output or voltage (as long as its in the range) of your pack is, it will adjust weld time automatically to achieve the same output energy.

I didn’t mean it that way, the sqeuere is time based right? The kweld you choose how much energy you want going into the weld and it keeps welding until it’s gone thru all of the power you ask for.

If you hold down the pedal/probes after a weld you will see the stats like weld time and current, and you can see them change over time to remain consistent.

hmmm used this BMS on new cells for over a year no problems so not sure but it worked for me on new cells. Maybe cells never went out of balance so it was never needed, hard to say

anyone know where to get spare kweld tips from in the uk? and also how long the tips will last for?

thanks

And all others who were curious.

The cells are on their way back to M&A, and they gave some information on the cell distributor.

They said, the distributor told them that the cells were directly from the manufacturer. And that due to the agreement between the distributor and manufacturer, the cells had to be rewrapped before resale.

I don’t really know what that means, since I have no expertise in the business realm, but that’s the info I got.

Maybe it’s helpful? ¯\(ツ)/¯

Thanks for the update!
IMO this can mean different things and I think we’ll never know what really happened or why.

Glad you’re getting a refund though.
