The battery builders club

I like PCB assemblies as they make rigid P groups… ease of assembly, inherently make a flexy pack…

a PCB board is pretty easy to cut a dremel would do it, but I’d put them to some table saw torture… max cut would end up about 12mm-15mm long

yeah somebody could make a something but I already have this…

ah. pcbs in hand that need DIY to make them useful int he moment is cool. I would make them useful too.

let me see how well it cuts. I’m wondering if the big wide coper traces get torn off.

what kinda sheers you guys using to cut your nickel?

Heavy duty tin snips, this one specifically… It cuts everything, I cut steel with it all the time and it’s like 10 years old… Cuts no effort at all and never needed to sharpen

Also the same corner chompers, definitely need to take mine apart and clean it

Another one wrapping up. I wish all bms came with absurdly long balance leads

Agreed there.

Mine came with like 20" long wires pre-crimped but not inserted into the connector for ease of wrangling.

Of course I fucked up the wiring and fried one of the balance transistors, but since there were some unused channels on the BMS I was able to steal components from them to get back up and running.

The sunkko pen is a good upgrade, but the electrodes wear out fast and bend easily, if you can get kweld electrodes by fast the best I have tried

Also when the sunkko electrodes wear out they are not the easiest to find, and can get stuck in the pen easily

battery looks so good.

surely you must crimp your own appropriate length wires and not sully it with extensions… :stuck_out_tongue:
seriously though it’s like battery porn.

Built a few packs:
2x 10s2p Sanyo 20700b for @City-Blade-101 for his Onan X1 4WD
i did use the original bms again

8S4p Samsung 30q for my HB83
60A smart bms

12s3p rebuild with 30q cells

  • originally badly built by eskating.eu
  • did a complete capacity test on all cells and rewrapped damaged ones
  • then i did the complete rebuild

Good work, bro.

Anyone know if there are two differing kinds of sanyo 18650GA’s? I was under the impression both packs I has taken apart hand said cell, but the two packs have a different wrap’s on the cells. I haven’t tested them, but I also have no idea how much use either of them have seen, so I’m not sure it would be informative. Anyone know? Both GA’s?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough, fishpaper ring on positive terminal of cell is a MUST! They are so cheap anyway

What’s the battery/ nickel thickness?

The areas on either side of the series connection are getting all of the load, and with those slices in the strip. So that single strip has half the total amps above and below the wire connection. The above side looks like it carries 60+% actually given its position relative to center

What do you separate the halves of the pack with? Is it just another layer of fish paper?
