The battery builders club

How the fk? My 12s8p comes out to over 1000Wh and I hit LVC on it after about 20-30 minutes… 12 miles and it’s half dead and struggling…

My 12s7p 30Q is 917 Wh, my small 5065 mono drive averages a staggeringly low 9 Wh/mi on flat ground at a constant 12ish mph…the state of Delaware is 96 miles in its longest dimension (far North point of the circle to the East/West line border at the South) so the board in theory can go another 2 miles past the length of the state

I mean the ESC on that is a FSESC 4.12 so it would explode at 12s but still…in theory it would work. I will be trading the 4.12 and 5065 for a FOCBox and TB 6355 so it would probably have slightly more range after that upgrade

In reality the big battery is on the eMTB and I get a staggering 36 miles based on experience…but with a fast charger I can top it off while I go to the bathroom and eat a meal so I can deffinetly do it in a day

What do yall think about this for series connections between 2 groups? Will use larger copper braid for the rest of the pack, 10s4p 40t

Why the effort to use both copper and nickel? Either should have enough ampacity to carry 30A for 20mm

Just want to be on the safe side, this is a pack for a customer lol

Plus really the effort is minimal and it gives me peace of mind

Call me dumb, but i’m with @Skyart on this one… Peace of mind. I used 8 AWG solid copper grounding wire just for the parallel connections on my pack, then bridged with 2x 10AWG silicone wire… contemplated 3 but it was too much work and too much bulk :expressionless:

I just love the idea of getting some copper in there… makes the feels feel good.

Dude right? After 10 years of being an electrician and only ever using copper, it just feels right :innocent:

If I had enough wire on hand I would double everything up just for the heck of it…

(not an electrician, but…)

I was messing around in some calculators and found that there is a not-insignificant amount of voltage sag at high amps just from wiring resistance.

No chance the balance wire can rub here?

Possible but maybe this is better

Ah yeah, looks better. The balance wires that cross the centre have no chance of rubbing of the nickel either does it?

No, very unlikely I think alot of other things will go wrong before that does
