Or could cheat and buy one pre wired…
Fuck!
Look at copper strips not as easy to come by but superior current handling about the same as .2 to spot weld.
THis hot mess was pretty entertaining
no, scary as hell!!! Holy crap, I feel enough persistent anxiety just having cells sitting in a shelf let alone doing this to a pack.
Linux along with Corridor crew frequently pass by awesome tinkerer hobbys, but do so with the mindset of a Tv show producer; Giving your team 30 minutes to research, giving them a ruddy budget, and expecting heaps of content. No wonder it never quite works out as originally intended… Sure is still entertaining and cool to see them attempt though!
yeah but that’s all they have ever promissed to deliver. Basic ass content. 10 minutes of youtube glory to something that could be a lives endeavour.
Its alright as long as you understand its purpose
3 x Lipos!? 2 is ample dude! Why u get 3?
'cause 3 is MOAR!
Also, this is a great test of nickel vs nickel plated steel. A twofer ftw!
@Jansen, I’m going! Let me finish!
Now that looks like it works a lot better than when Justin @BSHeezie13 tried it last time with the belt sander. I like @BluPenguin method for testing and just blowing a while through a strip up in the air a little above in the three. Real cowboy like. Lol.
You gonna join us on Sunday or what? Better get that pack built. Will help if you need it if you wanna bring it up here.
The choice is yours young grasshopper…
More nickel tricks.
My nickel rail road to do this:
Was nickel plated steel.

So I made my own, used nickel plated copper.
Except that stuff is hard to weld, I failed to get any weld at all when I first played with it.
Trick is to put most resistive material on top, spot weld over it on to less resistive material. Saw this on a endlesssphere from the bike guys.
Now make many.
(Last pic was a tester. Looks like I took a shotgun to it.

Also, stay on target. If you miss the bottom layer, you will blow straight through.
@BluPenguin, the KWeld calculates the resistance and applies appropriate power, preventing this, correct?
Ah no, it calculates energy instead of timing, but if the energy is set too high for the weld it’ll still blow through. It dumps X amount of Joules regardless of what the probe is touching. It only stops if the resistance is too high and it cannot pass the set amount of Joules within a set amount of time…
Need the big kid soldering iron for tomorrow…
This will end up being 2, 6s packs, 40ah (12s10p, Sammy 40t) will charge with balance chargers. Plan to terminate leads with AS150s, 6s balance lead close to middle, trying to minimize long balance wires.
I only have 1 dead lipo bc connection/user error (crashes don’t count ). My library of shitty BMS and packs they (we) killed is extensive.
Could charge each 6s at 15a right now. Only have 1000w total for chargers at 24v.
Will go in a kick tail carbon Gt gen 1 with a CF spacer. Hope to run dual focbox ogs, neobox6’s, and then stormcores back to back.
Oh Linus, that’s adorbz. He’s saying the right words, but I still feel uneasy.
Only 0.15 thick, but shipped quick.
