Only one of the three ‘trusted’ sources/stores of Molicel’s in the USA is an ‘Authorized Distrbutor’

For a while, the P45b was likely the most profitable to counterfeit.

Who? Please say 18650batterystore.com

18650batterystore claims the same, no? My research suggests they’re both authorized?

Google search showed this…

I don’t see 18650 BS currently claiming to be an NPE/Molicel ‘Authorized distributor’, but could be missing it, and accept the fact I could be wrong.

That facebook post is from 2019. A lot can change in 6 years.

Hey @Battery_Mooch mind settling this for us? I we all just wanna buy real cells  I’m not sure who’s right anymore thanks lol

Me and @Pecos bought P45b cells from Liion Wholesale, so we got it from an authorized distributor.

Hopefully that old FB post is still relevant because there are 72 of them from 18650batterystore on my bench right now. No issues with them in the past.

A six year old post? Never a good idea to share. :slightly_smiling_face:
And absolute insanity to use Google for any cell-related searching since it returns the most popular links first…which are the oldest and practically guarantees their obsolescence.

Forget all that “authorized” craziness…badly abused by others. Trusted vendors include 18650batterystore.com (NOT 18650battery!), liionwholesale.com, fogstar.uk, and DIY500AMP.com.

Before others descend into apoplectic fits…there are other vendors who sell recent-manufacture, genuine, higher grade Molicels!!!

I merely make a few personal suggestions as to where one can start. If you use a different vendor and are happy THEN USE THAT OTHER VENDOR! My recommendations are not an indictment of your purchasing decisions.

Apologies for the rant. Some days I am just tired of hearing from those who attach so much of their self-worth to their vendor choices.

I sense trauma :joy:

I’m sorry that you have to suffer for the incredible work you do.

We love you Mooch!!!

Hey All. Been a minute! I accidently allowed one of my batteries to discharge below 3.0V per cell. BMS is an LLT/Xiaoxing. Will currently not charge when connected to the charger. Anyone happen to know if the BMS is to blame? I.e. it will not allow charging to start with the SOC that low? My next steps are to start looking for continuity issues but if I can avoid that, that’s preferable. Lowest cell is 2.74V. TIA

Yes, this is probably the case. The BMS goes into a protection state (disables charge and discharge) when the pack voltage is too low, a cell voltage is too low, a cell is too out of balance with the rest, etc.

You can either charge the pack (slowly and carefully) directly, bypassing the BMS, or you can lower the programmed thresholds for those protection states. Just be sure to return them to normal when your pack is charged back up.

Much appreciated, Sir. I’ll unwrap the pack and bring the cells individually up past 3.0v and try again. Cheers!

It’s certainly plausible but I am pretty sure an LLT/JBD on default settings would still allow charging at 2.74v for the lowest cell.

@Common_good another potential (and in my opinion more likely) issue is that some chargers don’t let you charge when the voltage they sense is too low. If the charger seems to be acting weird and not just a solid green then this is the case most of the time. In the case of a 12S battery [while it is so low in voltage that a 12S charger freaks out for too low voltage], if you have a 10S charger kicking around that should be able to get it high enough voltage for the 12S charger to start working.

This happens to us with JBD when they are below 3V per cell. Is a protection. You can charge the cells bypassing the BMS very slowly until they reach 3V per cell.

You think the data sheets are fake?

You think you know better than the manufacturers? I already showed u this. Why doesn’t it get through I don’t know

What data sheet.
