It makes me want to take the cell wrappers off so these cells can cool off faster and use thermal silicone to attach to pcb for a makeshift heatsink. Just my wild thoughts
12s4p?
My plan is 12S8P, but I would need to get the double stack enclosure from @torqueboards because the ones I have are too skinny.
Has mooch done a test on these cells? Do we have a definitive safe amp draw for these cells?
I didn’t see it on his chart so I messaged him
The temps are just speculation at this point, just like the discharge ratings.
Based on the the articles I’ve seen, all stemming from that guy’s first Model 3 tear down, which was rife with casual speculation (I’m pretty sure they were working on trying to do a reality TV series about their shop at the time btw, and I’m not actually joking) I would take all of their info with a grain of salt. He’s a bit of a self-proclaimed Tesla battery expert, with a LOT of personal interest (business) on the subject, but no evidence I’ve seen leads me to believe he’s got any direct or even indirect line to the engineers at Tesla, or Panasonic who make the batteries. Admittedly I don’t follow their media much, so maybe I’m missing something…
Mooch on the other-hand, yeah I’ll take that basically as the gospel.
I have yet to see a good spec sheet. Guess thats the problem with salvaged cells that are not available retail.
But im not sure if its for these same cells.
Did you get your nickel? @kook
He spurned his supplier, who’s now considering hoarding the stuff before Elon jacks the prices.
all my nickel is being held hostage by that terrorist @fessyfoo we’re sending in the hostage negotiators!!
Has anyone received cells from this guys?
Placed an order over a week ago and no updates on shipping. Email them but never got a response
They should send it out but it took a while.
The chat box works good on their site.
Fyi sale is stock dependent not time.
Ah. Good to know. Thanks for the info brother
I love how this is like the maximum size that could still fit under a skateboard/in a hummie cutout, and in a double stack enclosure easily.
10S2P being 450mm x 155?mm x 45mm
Probably way more, just keeping the same chemistry and internal construction it would be around 10 times the internal volume, considering they 2170 cells they already use are close to 5 Ah, this bad boy could have 50 Ah. But I’m certain they will have an improved energy density, people are talking from close to 300 Wh/kg all the way to 350, so from 20% to 40% energy density increase
Maybe the capacity will stay constant at those 50 Ah, but there was a few documents pointing to a higher voltage tolerance electrolytes, just a few tenths of volt higher does wonders to capacity
I have my popcorn ready
(May be closer to 41mm x 80mm)
what cell is this??
