Only upside I see is improved range, and downside is that you can buy pneumatics for a smoother ride for the same price at that point. Would you go offroading with a 150mm urethane wheel? Would be super heavy as well.
From my experience the thane lasts longer then the rubber (mileage wise). And pummies can get flat tires. But they can’t chunk like urethane.
If he can offer them for the same cost as traditional pneumatics, I’d call that a win.
And remember, a lot of people that run pnumies are riding to combat “crap quality asphalt”. not necessarily trail trekking with roots and mud.
Think this is a good market. Better range, just as plush ride, goes over the crappiest road conditions.
On point.
Or, they want larger motor clearance and higher speed on low-KV DDs.
I was thinking of offering a 120mm Rubber Tire using the hubs. 150mm thick on hubs wouldn’t get you much more than 110s. You’d just have more weight.
Unless you’re referring to a 150mm wheel but that’s pretty heavy lol
using your AT hubs you mean? How thin would the PU be if it was only 120mm?
People want it to be as plush as the 110’s (Essentially pneumatic sized PU wheel for reasons mentioned above)
125-91 = 34mm thane
150-91 = 59mm thane
110-46 = 64mm thane

so unless you want a 155mm urethane wheel but then that’s still same as 110s…
But you also only get 50mm contact patch vs 68mm…
I didn’t realize I was reading one of your newsletters
I think 100mm on current DD KV offerings is the sweet spot in terms of acceleration/top end while still retaining a good amount of clearance. I will no doubt buy and try when the time comes.
Love you bb
If you make a 150mm/155mm/6" urethane wheel that fit your AT hub core, I bet a lot of people will buy this over traditional pneumatic wheels for their belt setups due to:
- Better range
- just as comfy
- cant get flats
This will obviously not work well with your existing 75kv/90kv DD’s. But will work well for future low kv DD’s (~40kv?)
But great for any current belt setups.
north of 110mm, aren’t urethane wheels are heavier than their pneumatic counterparts?
What I thought of was something else. Not just more thane, nor rubber on pneumie hubs.
Rather something like a normal Kegel core, scaled up from 46mm to ~86mm. With 64mm thane surrounding it. So, basically the exact same as the 110 you are releasing, except larger core and final diameter of 150mm. Same contact patch, same thane thickness, just 35% more circumference. This should keep the weight and cost reasonable, as you just need 35% more thane.
So same proportion relationship between core and thane?
Only color available will be blue and white for the new formula?
Totally agree… hence foamies, and the boosted squishies, and trampa gummies also form part of this catalogue to counteract shit roads / paths
These are ass in case you haven’t ridden them
I havent but they sound so delicious
False marketing, sorry bud they no bueno
