Stooge Raceboards Web-Store Up

40mm Battery thickness on both the SS and V-5

Typically we see 24km or (15 miles) cruise range on 8s2p 4x 10ah 4s lipo bricks 180lb (81kg) rider, BRP wheels with 800kv motors.
Flat land.

We have an 8 mile 2500foot (.76km) elavation run we test on that the 8s2p will barely make on the xlx2 setup.

Was asked today what the difference was between the old collar mount and billet mount.

  1. They move the heim vertical. This allows more hanger roll before the rod ends run out of movement. Also makes the 90 deg mounting not critical for radius rod range of movement.
The rod mount position is raised for more torque control. (Less strain on rods and hardware).

One thing that Iā€™ve been very curious about- how does the billet mountā€™s ā€œclockingā€ on the axle affect the boardā€™s handing?

in other words/perspective, shortening or lengthening the linkages will rotate the hanger and away from or towards the links in a way that wasnā€™t really possible with the old collars. Does changing the links lengths like this appreciably affect the feeling of the board?

90deg setup is optimal. Rotated Fore or Aft a few degrees from 90, any difference would be negligible. Moving away from 90 increases rod and hardware loading either direction when tortional force is applied to the hanger.

Hey @MoeStooge, @sugandese, @davidbonde and all others! Which one would perform best, for same topspeed?

Just run 70125ā€™s at 12s. They have more power than you need/can handle and you donā€™t have to worry about gearing.

I run 8s lion with the 56118 650kv with 11 / 78. I havnt tried higher s than 8.

I like to gear the setup to the track.

I have fund that I cant go lower than 11t pignon as I havnt fund any with a lower count that are durable enough. 11t and up you can find some that are almost indestructible (losi / castle creation). So you can have 11, 12, 13 and 14 ready to gear for the specific track.

On my setup I have fund that I would like to have it geared slightly lower for some tracks. Its not all tracks that allow us ti go 65kmh. With the 560kv I think I could get closer to where I want to be on some tracks.

I would stick to the 78t wheel gear. That way you can go with the 70125 560 kv on 8s and be able to gear for lower speed on the tight European tracks with 11t, and then bump up the pignons for other tracks track where the straight allows higher speed.

I havnt tried the max5 and 70125 combo yet. But thats the next thing I will look into when next season comes.

For a one setup to everything I do think the 56118 650 kv on 8s 11/78 fits good.

Thanks @davidbonde and @sugandese :raised_hands:

So 10T motor sprocket is excluded.

I think that having a little headroom to reach 70 km/h is enjoyable.

So with this 70125 560kv, maybe 10S can be the sweet spot :

This Gens ace 5000mAh 18.5V 60C 5S1P has an height of 37 mm. I could put six of them to make 10S3P.

(To achieve 8S3P, Iā€™d pick this Turnigy Graphene Panther 6000mAh 4S 75C that has an height of 34mm, and a very good price!)

Any benefit from running MAX4 HV rather than MAX5 HV with the 70125 560kv?

MAX4 can pull 300A, MAX5 250A. At 10S, 10.5kW versus 12.6kW.

That seems to me Iā€™ve read somewhere that MAX4 are too big to sit at the back of the SuperSpine deck. Am I wrong? (@MoeStooge).

It is quite hard to explain how much power one of these controllers has without riding one. I had a single max 4 and 70125 (12s8p p42a) geared to nearly 120kp/h, and it was absurdly fast at all speeds. Even though I had spent the past couple of years before that riding very high-power 18s vesc boards it was very hard to control for the first week. I would recommend going max 5 if you are going the dual motor route and gearing very high.

Also if this is anything besides a dedicated track exclusive board I would consider doing a li-ion pack, more range, less hassle, and lasts longer, the weight penalty is negligible in my experience unless you are far more talented than I am.

Donā€™t get too caught up in gearing. As @ARCTIC said you will have a surplus of power and acceleration geared to speeds you will never reach

Iā€™m not! Thank you very much for you explanation! Thanks to @sugandese too!

Iā€™d set top speed between more or less 65-70 km/h. I never go > 60 km/h with my mountainboards. At this point fear replaces fun.

Because of a broken receiver antenna, I once have a 12 km/h to 60 km/h unexpected acceleration with my Hummie Hubs build. I flew before reaching this speed, of cause. I canā€™t imagine what could happen if this top speed was 120 km/hā€¦

Iā€™m no speed demon(my typical stree riding is <30mph) but raceboards on a track are something else. I used to race a DIY Kaly on channels, and anything above 30mph had me on edge, even on track.

This weekend I hit 49mph on Ankle Wreacher (3-links) at Apple Valley- and I was totally stable. I wouldā€™ve gone faster, but my board just didnā€™t have it. Currently changing my board setup to fix this.

Additionally, on a few corners where I was approaching top speed, I was feeling differential torque coming out of my motors. Good to avoid this by having a 5~10mph headroom on top speed, which really helps with board predictability.

TLDR; Donā€™t underestimate the desire for top-end speed :stuck_out_tongue:

to add to Tucker, i rode a superspine a couple weeks ago and i found myself at 40mph and it felt like i was below 30. Insanely stable and iā€™d totally be willing to try and hit the 50ā€™s on one

Was it a single?

Why the racers have only one footstrap, on the front?

At the point you have sensored motors, and you donā€™t have to push at startup, is it not safer to have both feet strapped?

The surpass gears are decent :+1:

@DavidC half, full or no binding, it is all rider preference.
Most top riders use at least one.

for me, the front foot strap is enough to get the leverage i need on the board with the right bushing setup. when i had a harder bushing on the rear, i wanted to try a rear binding but i move my back foot a lot so it didnā€™t seem like a good idea. @poastoast, @Tasventouras and @Dinnye the only ones iā€™ve seen using two bindings when racing so maybe they can give a little insight on why they use two. i was tempted to throw a toe clip on for my rear foot but a switch to a softer rear bushing negated the need for that.

Hey @MoeStooge, on your Web-Store the SuperSpine is ā€œsold outā€. Do you know when you will take new orders? Regards.
