Fuck that risk. This hobby is dangerous enough as it is
Yeah but people had to accept the risks of testing stooge gear in the early days when things were still being developed.
Eskate is inherently risky. If you havenât accepted that then you should choose a different hobby imo.
Even the most reliable boards have mission critical parts that were mass produced in China to consumer product standards with some allowable % of failure rate.
Moe is only cautioning that other products arenât as refined and tested as his. So if safety and reliability is extremely important to you, then buy stooge trucks. If youâre ok with the risks of trying something new then buy whatever you want.
Arenât you volunteering to be the first semenbone crash test dummy?
You made my point⌠thatâs why I am on stooge trucks smart money mitigates risk and doesnât f with first batch
How could you ever doubt the semensneeze
Just pointing out that the construction method used is completely untested for that shapeâŚ
Not doubting, just calling it as it is.
At least the function of that shape is proven
can you offer any advice/suggestions on sealing a Super Spine belly pan?
Thatâs a good lookin board
Please correct me if im wrong, but Im pretty sure the only competitions that Stooge is involved with are Maryhill and AVS.
There are SO many esk8 racing competitions and racing communities worldwide. T-race & XERACE started in Europe, while ERL have been hosting races in Australia to name a coupleâŚ
And still, I am yet to see another truck system in front of the SRB 3links on those podiumsâŚ
Wow, there is clearly some deep seated feelings towards SRB here that I really donât have the energy to dive into⌠but coming into any vendors thread to berate them in public is definitely not the right way to deal with things imo. Happy to chat further outside this threadâŚ
This feels extremely distasteful, given your testing of these trucks wasnât all that different from Newbeeâs. You make an iteration, test it, see what fails, and replace that part with something better. Before people even got to use their âcopycat 3-linksâ, a new iteration came out with free parts to retrofit. Not to mention it was a low volume beta batch.
If you feel like youâre going to lose some of your dominance in the scene as a result, it may be more beneficial overall to save the backhanded comments and continue iterating on your design and implementing changes that prospective buyers have been wanting for years. The biggest selling point with your competition is compatibility with existing esk8 gear without the need for expensive custom components.
You and MAD made progress in that department with those new baseplates that push the wheelbase out further for deck compatibility. But it may be a good time to look at intercompatibility the rest of the drivetrain. Many third party attempts at this (i.e) boardnamics m1-at were janky at best, and not compatible with the different âhangerâ (rod size) of the HD iteration.
Yeah definitely not good to jump into vendor threads; like what happened to newbees triple link thread

To say everyone had input and were test dummies is demonstrably false.
@Evwan âthis feels extremely distasteful given your testing of these trucks wasnât all that different from Newbeeâsâ
If you believe this statement then you have a fundamental misunderstanding about the way SRB 3-links came into being and were developed. There is nothing remotely similar about the way Newbee brought their product to the commercial market. If you believe that SRB put an untested product under the feet of any rider at any time much less accepted money for it you are sadly mistaken. The 3-link concept and working prototype through at least 2 iterations were never tested by anyone but Moe himself. By the time we made it to version 3 many of the bugs were worked out and we were refining a completely unique product, created, designed and produced by Moe. As with any product there was a refining process that utilized the feedback of many riders (as it continues to) but the fundamental principles, form & function of the 3-link has remained unchanged. For another individual to take the fundamental principles and to change a design feature of the 3-link does not make them a creator it makes them an opportunistic copycat. Should SRB celebrate sharing the marketplace with such a product?
I dont believe you put untested trucks in the hands of paying customers, thatâs not in really in question. If my phrasing suggested that, itâs on me. I also know Newbeeâs trucks arenât untested either. I know what testing this man has put his trucks through historically as I was closely following the development of his other truck offerings, and I have a general timeline on the development of these trucks. The backhanded part is the insinuation that he hasnât done any reasonable amount of testing even though you have no idea what he couldâve put those trucks through. Iâm not versed on his specific testing methodology either, but that just makes both of us completely unqualified to make any call or accusation of them not being vetted -
Also, Iâve been following the development of your trucks since I first came into the hobby many years ago, where I saw you selling trucks that were prone to different modes of failure and wear from use outside of a fairly smooth track, especially with the old small threaded rod. At that time, I was riding an evo with boardnamics RKPs and I was pretty unsatisfied with the ride feel. To say I was drooling over 3 links would be an understatement. I was borderline addicted to watching footage from the I2S races and was ecstatic to meet you guys at carve2022 and once again at carve2023. I just could never buy them because they wouldnât survive NYC streets. Seems like the durability issues were mostly ironed out with the HD version, but the original retail version, which arguably wasnât all that safe, was being sold for quite a long period of time after their poor durability was known. Itâs not all roses and peaches on this side of the pacific. Tested? yes. Flawed? yes, and you iterated.
Iâm not going to sit here and pretend to be an armchair lawyer, but did he violate any of your intellectual property? I was under the impression that the only thing you had in this department was the mechanical RTC, which these trucks lack. Serious question.
If not, I dont really see why this isnât kosher. He addressed a lot of the very serious usability issues with your 3 links that the community has been asking you to implement for years. Competition is always good for the market and the consumer. If heâs not legally in the wrong, youâll be forced to improve your product further (in addition to the mechanical RTC) and itâs a net positive for anyone that isnât you.
SRB is proud to have nearly all of our component pieces manufactured and sourced domestically, many of them supporting small owner operated businesses like ours. Having said that we do not believe that doing business with a foreign based company is unethical or results in an inferior product.
Not to be an asshole, send me to derail jail, but want to link the wipeouts?
