Where do you get a dual shaft motor like this, is it a custom order? I don’t see it on the Hobbywing website.

Gds lasted super well for me even with motor slips and out of aligned gears to really test them
Wore the pinions unevenly as a result but they still work fine just extra chatter now, would buy again and maintain things better :person_facepalming:

Bummer, I really want to try some ideas for limited slip clutch on a dual shaft motor.

How difficult is it to do, just press out the existing motor shaft and press in a longer one? I have a buddy who is a machinist. Looks fairly simple on an outrunner:

IIRC Jason Lucier did it by replacing the shaft on castle 2028 in-runners. My understanding is The 70125 hobbywing inrunners however was more difficult it wasn’t easy/possible to get the shaft out.

Oh sick!!! This would be amazing for Magnetic deck! No need for a front extension!

This would be perfect for the Odashi, Death-toll and Liquid Sword as well. 20% off… shoot that’s a deal.

What are the performance differences between the new short rod version compared to the traditional HD setup? On my HD’s I have to run an extension in the front and the forward-facing beak mount thing for the rear truck to allow for motor/drive clearance in the rear. Would these eliminate the need for the forward mount on the rear?

Are the baseplates the same with just an extra hole drilled and tapped? Nose piece as well?
Just curious as some maybe interested in modding their OG versions.

Would also love to see some pictures of the new short rod trucks on some esk8 applications.

Short rod reacts quicker than the long rod setup. The steer fulcrum is narrower, so it has less leverage over the hanger. Steering geometry is similar to the SS in leverage over hanger.

On the rear, this setup has more motor to rod clearance due to the new hanger setback position and narrower hanger mounts. Whether you run the motors under the deck or out the back, there is much more room.

Baseplate and bracket, will take both short and long rod versions.

OG plates could be modded as well as the hangers to accept the SR setup. 1.5" from the long rod hole. 5/8-18 thread

Good deal, thank ya, one more for ya.
Since the hanger is pushed forward, does that alter the achievable angles to be steeper? Or am I missing something that addresses that

Increased angles achievable. Anything more than 55deg becomes a critical angle where you will start losing your leverage control over the hanger. Yes it will give more steer than you need but at a control over hanger disadvantage.

Front In its configuration it is on 50deg. If you lower the ride height it will lower the angle.

Drop the ride height by 3/8" drop the bars to mid hole and you are back on 50deg.

50 degrees should make for a serious carving truck!

3-links origins are from e-board racing and are designed and built by SRB. We have spent our last 5 years dominating e-board racing podiums throught our development our the 3-link truck designs. Our design holds the top 5 positions in https://t-raceglobal.com/ along with track records at esk8con, mary-hill, and AVS. We short track, long track and, uphill race all on one truck.
Every truck and race chassis we sell is hand assembled and made in the USA. We are a mom and pop shop located in Southern California and build to suit. Our roots begin in racing since the mid 1980s’ with over 3 decades of practical application of vehicle chassis dynamics. This experience is what the 3-link truck has been conceived and developed from. Our metallurgy, steering geometry and bushing desing is purposed and proven.

SRB would caution againsed copycat 3-links as the experience and provenance has not been vetted,
effectivly making the end user the test dummy.

In DIY I accept this risk. I’m used to being the crash test dummy on everything I build.

The “copycat” 3 links are bringing some pretty cool innovations like the ability to use several different closed gear drive designs.

I really like my OG 3 links that you built, but I think more people iterating on the 3-link design is a good thing for the esk8 scene.
