Spintend 75V/200A Ubox (Based on 75V/300A VESC)and Uni1 Introduction !

yeah honestly

who would have thought that using firmware made for that product and is advertised on there website as the correct firmware was gonna be the right firmware. honestly some people

I may have misread what you said

Is it happening on both ESC’s?

ah sorry post above was a joke. when i bought i assumed the stock firmware was correct. didnt know about this whole weird firmware thing till recently

getting huge voltage differences between my actual readings and my vesc

it should really be advertised on the website that you need that custom firmware in order to use the vesc

As I recall much earlier in the thread, the firmware is the thing that fixes that issue

Is it not advertised? I have heard it said in this thread a ton of times, but I never looked on the actual website

nope the firmware on the site gives the firmware which is causing me issues which are potentially really dangerous. it shouldnt be that someone has to read this thread in order to fix a firmware issue of a vesc that they buy.

Really it literally says use the 100A firmware provided right here or you may have problems

Obviously it is up to imagination what “relative symptom” means in broken english but still

We are splitting hairs here but it’s not like it doesn’t have something to tell you. Yes, it could be clearer.

i have tried the custom 300 amps firmware just below and same issue with that

also it shouldnt say recommend as we are talking about someone getting a cutout at 40mph here

i believe unless that and the no limits firmware are different then they both have the voltage reading issues

?? you’re not making sense.

The 100a firmware is the correct one, it says the 300A one is not in warranty protection, why would you want to use that one

Yes I realize it shouldn’t say recommend, it should probably say “ONLY USE THIS FIRMWARE”

And why would they not cover the 300a one if it was the same as the 100a one

yep def

i saw earlier bill gordon reccomending to use it (i think it was him at least)

they are the same however one limits to 100 amps the other allows you to go above that
the voltage reading issue i assumed was the same on both

Who told you this? That’s what I’m trying to figure out? Aren’t you one of the only ones who has voltage issues right now? I haven’t seen many others complaining about it recently

Granted VESC is bad at voltage reporting to begin with, even my DV6 with normal firmware is probably 0.2 V or so off, but that’s not bad compared to yours

Yeah I may be incorrect about that. I thought I saw it somewhere but maybe not. Gonna change firmware but really they should make it clear somewhere that it is actually dangerous to use the stock firmware

Can someone please help me with updating the firmware. I have downloaded the recommended firmware from the spintend site but I don’t know what hardware vertion to use as ubox is not in the list. Thanks jamie

What do you mean what hardware version to use?

It’s that easy. Just download custom firmware from Ubox site ( use the recommended one) and follow the instructions from the image above.

It’s this one from the Spintend site:

Where it says hardware and lists ‘stormcore, 60, unity, ect’.
I’m new to this so please excuse my ignorance if I’m being stupid.

You don’t have to select anything from that list. Just take a look at the last two posts from me and @BillGordon.

Great thank you so much, I got a warning message when I tried to up load the firm ware so I didn’t want to damage anything.

Thanks, I really appreciate your help.

You will still need to set the max values for motor and battery amps, cutout voltages etc…

Let us know if you need help with that.
