This is how I ended up with a broken femoral neck. Random hate from a car, while I was cruising peacefully on the far right of the lane minding my own business. People are asshole and don’t think of consequences.

People just want to hate, it’s hardly against eskate. Some people hate all skateboarders, trick skateboarders hate longboarders, park skaters hate scooters, some people hate lime scooters, “regular” cyclist hate ebikes, cars hate cyclists, cyclists hate cars, cars even hate pedestrians, trucks hate priuses, motorheads hate electric cars, driver enthusiasts hate automatics and driver assist programs, braindead dumbasses hate vaccines.
At the end of the day, do what you like, most people don’t mind what you do as long as you’re not affecting their life. There’s a select few that will hate you no matter what you do. Any sport, any activity, will include haters. They speak louder on the internet behind a screen. If the day comes that someone tries to run you off the road and put your life in danger, fight back for what you can, you will be defended by most around you, because no normal person likes those haters anyway.

It’s all just the most skeezy vocal haters who actually say anything, but they rarely has anything ever come from it so I just treat it as old fashioned shit talking. For every dickbag that’s talking shit there’s three other people seeing esk8 for the first time and actually getting interested, add to that even if they wanted to start shit in meatspace were either mob deep covered in body armor like it’s a cyberpunk renfaire or their to slow to catch up on flat land, real skaters are generally pretty chill with us and a lot of folks in the community are analog converts, so it’s all good, just turn the other cheek to that nonsense.
