Oh I have no idea I just know that most of the people I have built for don’t want to pay $500 for wheels and tires

I thought most of 3ds was expensive

Definitely haha

Because finality IS expensive. Also currency conversion and shipping

I know this is true, I just don’t see the people around me spending this much! Maybe I need to hang out with the esk8 groups some more lol

we will see about that :joy:

Yeah, Finality is a bit pricey, but so is a set of lacroix trucks and belt drives that come with them. But I mean you pay almost 900 for the Lacroix trucks and you get plastic rims and belts, you pay a couple hundred more for finality, but you get CNC rims, possibility to personalize your drivetrain with a choice of anodised color, and a revolutionary low/no maintenance completely intrinsically sealed bearing hub and a 5 star mount system that centres your hub perfectly on the axle with nut seats. I mean you get ALOT for your money.

I approach this sport not with the mentality to save some money. I just want to build quality stuff. But I also build plenty of things without 3ds drivetrains, currently 2 belt builds in the works, and 3Ds doesn’t make belt stuff, that’s his choice. So I buy my belt stuff from @Boardnamics because I’ve had really good success with his belted setups. I love the idler mounts and those are my go to for belts.

Also 3Ds does not sell any hubs that cost $500 lol. Even those huge silver hubs I’ve had, I don’t think they cost that much even with shipping. Maybe $400 but I mean those are a custom one off thing I buy here and there, he doesn’t stock those and has to special order aluminium in small quantities which costs more.

For some reason I thought you were using the hoyt hubs

Yeah for me I’m on the Boardnamics train for most stuff because its good and the price is right

No these hubs are made by 3Ds I only buy the Hoyt tires

Regarding the shipping, I believe 3ds uses express only because of all the crap going on with the pandemic. When I order stuff, travel time is on average 4 days…I don’t mind spending an extra like $30 for that, if a cheaper option was available I would probably still use the DHL express. Very happy with how DHl works

Honestly for a set of CNC trucks, gear drives, and hubs, the price is pretty good for ~$1,100. Comes with the grease and bearings too. And the quality alone is worth it! Don’t think I’ll be riding anything else besides finality for awhile unless someone else makes something more interesting haha.

Also comes fully assembled which is nice. Just have to grease it.

Also, it’s sooooo quiet. Like way quieter than belts. It’s crazy!

Loud Vroom good. Steel on steel gears for the win

Oh god, I had a set of helical trampa GDs. Sold that shit within 2 days

I like the idea of having steel gears for durability, but it’s wayyy too loud. Distracting for me on rides.

I’ll just yell boardnamics off my steel gear drive mountain until someone makes something to compete with it at the price point

Love them, and love the sound. I actually like belt drive sound too but I can understand wanting quiet too

Belt drive I do like, it’s a nice sound for sure. Also straight moon drives weren’t bad sounding, but I had very bad experiences with moon drives so I can’t do that anymore.

Loved my boardnamics belt stuff too, but have never tried their GD. Maybe one day!

If you look at how much jumping I’ve done with the BN AT, I think you’d be convinced about durability

But yeah if you get the chance one day, try em out. Not too hard to assemble imo

Anyways, these builds should be cool to see Art make

What’s the price of these new drives?

How’s the free roll on Finality?

Not the best, but since I run bigger batteries, I don’t mind it.

With or without bearing shields?

Edit: Finality should have better free-roll than most drivetrains.

It is very good once it’s seated after like 200 or so miles, but I’ve had better free roll on belts for sure. Not a biggie for me though.

Once the drive train is broken in about 50-100 miles and if installed correctly the free roll is pretty good. But I find the desire For unlimited freerol a bit puzzling around these parts of the internet, personally there are a few things that matter to me a lot more. Straight cut gears offer better freerol then helicals, but in most cases I would prefer helicals.

Unless it’s this bad boi :heart_eyes:

Testing going great! A bit louder then helicals but over all still pretty quite.

No information on price yet, they need a bit more testing, once everything is :100: I’m sure we will get a price
