Because they use cheap connectors. Those are not official bullet connectors. Those are banana plug style and they’re really weak and they vibrate loose all the time
Yeah there’s reasons we tape up our connectors lol
I almost always replace the connectors anyway with MR60 or whatever else I happen to need. But yeah those ones pictured above are crap.
Isnt tape / heat shrink just good practice regardless?
Tape? never
Heat shrink? Yes
Yes haha
Electrical tape is perfectly fine for extra bullet connector holding power inside of an enclosure. It’s more messy than heatshrink tho
That’s true. It does suck a lot if you ever need to work on something, though.
I just use packing tape. As stupid and crude as it sounds. It’s stronger than electrical tape and doesn’t leave much of a mess behind.
That actually sounds like a great in-between for electrical tape and polyimide tape.
Ew why use that if you can get adhesive heat shrink so easily
ive been using self-fusing silicone tape as an alternative to electrical tape. no residue and strong af
I don’t tape anything because I live dangerously
Fr tho gonna tape my connections next time I open the enclosure. Didn’t realize this was a thing.
I didn’t bother taping my connectors as they’re quite firmly together, but i did ziptie down the cables so they can’t be pulled apart or short together. Main thing is to make sure you dont have stuff get tugged loose randomly and short, etc.
Convenience. Especially when testing new setups that aren’t permanent
Every esk8 ever
Preach. I stopped using glue lined heatshrink because of this
Exactly. If I was using glue lined heatshrink at carve i wouldve been fucked
If it’s an MR60 or MT60 or XT90 or XT60 or any other connection really aside from bullet connectors, I strongly prefer tiny cable ties.
For that kind of money, do they deal with high temperatures? Or do the they die the first time they boil water?
