From the user view it’s all good. I am not stopping or letting up on the pace, I’m doing 40 to 45 up steep (STEEP!:smirk::flushed::heart_eyes:STEEP!) hills. If I were an adult I would stop to allow the board to cool off , alas I’m 49 going on 16.5, once I start riding I forget everything except skating ,that’s why I’m here .
It has only thermally cut out once.

To be clear to everyone,I am abusing this board. I replaced a track only motorcycle with this board. I ride it like I’m angry at it,despite my perpetual shit eating grin.

Sounds like you might want some better cooling, maybe some ducting or airflow guides to force air over/into the can lol. It’ll probably be fine though, i’d assume the adhesive on the magnets and whatnot would still hold.

Winter is coming, I’m hoping the lower temps will help. Also Artem will do some E Kung Fu on it . It is awesome to have access a responsive savy builder . The pice of mind from build quality, to support after the sale is an important “ Speck”, more important than range & top speed a .
Looking back now, I can’t imagine how all the dead boards in. My wake ever stood a chance with no hear sink …

Now where is the board with 200 small computer fans? Perhaps a squirrel motor is the ticket,as a last resort I’ll slow slo

Retaining ring

Ive never understood this piece. Is it to keep the magnets from sliding out this way?

Or from breaking side to side this way?

The retaining ring does make sure that the magnets aligned properly parallel to each other and as well help preventing movement in sideways and upwards direction.

Can confirm. I’ve had older TB motors without the retaining ring where the magnets were held on with adhesive and not epoxy. Overtime one of the magnets shifted so it was crooked and the motor made a weird electronic noise at certain RPMs. Those retaining rings along with epoxy to prevent the magnets from moving towards the stator are a big upgrade for any motor.

If done properly, yes.

My old TB Motors also had the retaining rings but each ring came loose after 5km. Needed to send them back to the US.

Unlucky batch maybe.

Well would you look at what the cat dragged in!

I am still away on vacation, will be back at the end of the month, so everything should be shipping end of September/first week of October! Thank you everyone who participated in the preorder! Would love to see what you guys make of these motors!

Side not…

Seems one box hasn’t been delivered yet, hopefully it will be tomorrow or soon lol

Nope, I’ve got a friend with multiple like this from different batches

Cant wait to slap these stupidly overkill motors on my build and never have thermal issues again :joy:

Sidenote - if anyone knows where to get HTD 5m motor pulleys for a 10mm keyway shaft that can run a 20mm wide belt, let me know, i havent had ANY luck

Just get one with two grub screws and lock one of them in the keyway. Those are easy to get made out of Aluminum, steel might be a bit more difficult to source. Which teeth count you are looking for?

Are you telling me that I should have my shit together for an early Halloween?

… or did the thicc cans not arrive with the others?
