Should I buy a Onewheel Pint?

It depends on a few factors. Your own weight, headwinds, temperature, incline, things like that.

Also, it’s a very (very) common occurrence for riders to greatly misjudge their own riding proclivities. Whether it’s confidence from decades of skating, or a specific understanding of speed, or other things. However each PEV shape has its own set of physical aspects and that changes how one’s body perceives its behaviors and limits.

Unfortunately, the Onewheel’s limits are some of the least forgiving.

If you’re a light rider, generally your safety threshold is relatively high. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get dumped from over acceleration or incline.

If you’re new to Onewheel, I’d really say to go nowhere near pushback for a while. If your lifetime odometer reads less than 50 miles, you may be ill equipped to deal with the ways uneven pavement can cause torsional changes, and those often just throw you.

This is the kind of stuff you learn to deal with through intentional practice while riding and taking different terrains at reasonable speeds.

@Adam0311 what @TheBoardGarage is saying is that you are gonna nose dive… it is just a thing…

so hope you are padded up.

I have not felt push back…

I find that weird
I hope I am not missing it. I thought it is supposed to be obvious. but my last ride that to me I was going hard looks like my top speed was just 15.6…

so I may have never gotten to the 17…

so I went out tonight.

I decided to try to try this stance from Leary.

this is different from what I was doing…
I had my front toe hanging off more…

so this is front heel hanging off and rear toe hanging off…

when I started riding I had my back foot way back… again in skateboarding that feels normal…

tonight I kept my feet super close basically to the fender.

I think this may be how I try to roll…
I like facing forward more…

gotta get more used to it

I got really frisky with the curb drops…
I mean, I was doing them every where and did a ton of them.

The closer foot stance helps me accelerate better…

I suspect this is spot on. I’m by no means an expert of any board sport, but I have been riding esk8s continuously for over 5 years and I’m used to riding and carving at a certain speed range 15-20mph mostly. Message very much received and appreciated. I need to slow down and better understand this new pev.

I’ve been growing interested in a OW, but I can’t get over how clunky it is to deal with compared to an eboard. How big of a ride comfort upgrade is it over a flexy-deck pneumatic board?

dude .

to me they are just so different…
but here are some comments.

this is probably a personal issue for me…
but on the OneWheel my front knee hurts after a fewiles… and my feet some as well.

and 6.miles feels like a really long ride…

but I am not used to it… have not perfected stance…
have not built stamina… yada yada yada.

on my Flux I get tired after 25 miles…

I’ve ridden a few one wheels. I kind of like them, i even have one of those Float clones I’m still trying to get working.

My only issue with them is the range, but Chi Battery Systems is making a killing on range mods, so…

i’m an og that likes to surf for 48 miles without any kind of range anxiety but the onewheel is absolutely fun to derp around on and try to monster truck over shit. I especially like to ride all over landscaping shit but i do the same with my EUC (gotway tesla)

what it does for me is more small adventures…

in a way I got to the point where esk8 rides were an ordeal…
get fully armored and go on an epic voyage for 2 hours…

but you know… those are harder to squeeze in.

I put an armored hoodie and kneepads on and just go around the block on the onewheel and it is super fun… I am no really enjoying the learning something new part.

i do the same with my EUC because the battery is so deteriorated it will only do maybe 15 miles. So i slap on some pads and ride to the end of the street and into the woods where the ATVs have loosened up all the sugar sand and made dug out pits. If i had a working OW i would be all up in those woods with it too. That’s exactly the kind of fun-for-30-minutes i would want on a OW.

Thats a fast uni, sheesh. Jk. Onewheels look very fun, but downright useless as an actual vehicle. Cant kick it any further if it dies, for a start.
My esk8’s are both toys and vehicles. Onewheel, def more of a toy. That isnt a bad thing. Id love to try one out.

I have joined the club!

Took advantage of FM’s fake Black Friday Sale!

Max speed of 16.9, honestly feels pretty slow on straights. Didn’t realize how fast I whip on esk8s

But…it is a ton of fun. Really like this thing.

Well, that’s one opinion. A bit unimaginative, but to each his own. Did my 8 mile (round trip) office commute today on the pint x, so works for me. It was fun and actually matched my fastest esk8 commute time because the onewheel allowed for a more direct route. That said, I wouldn’t want to do 18 miles on it, at least not until my feet acclimate to the onewheel.

A skateboard is as much of a toy as a Onewheel.

You also can’t kick push a car when it runs out of gas and that’s more of a vehicle than either of them.

We can dispense with the superiority already. It’s tired.

one of us. one of us…

it was cold here today… 32 degrees the only thing I rode was the pint in circles in the garage… it is a fun little thing.

47 miles in first week. Gonna take a lot more miles to feel totally comfortable on it. I’ve had to consciously slow my cruising speed to avoid pushback, but in doing so, I’m able to focus more on carving and boy does this thing like to carve. Added a kush nug low, definitely adds some control and comfort. Did have my first nose dive today coming off a curb about 7-8mph. Does that mean I landed with too much weight on the nose?
