Should I buy a Onewheel Pint?

I would be worried about the velostat abrading if you took that off.

But, IDK

Yeah I wouldn’t do that…

Went out this morning.

Went over to the school and did some more curb drops… still feels sketchy Everytime…

street skating gave me this instinct to lean back and the one wheel you gotta stay forward… so it is weird.

then I decided to head down to the trail…

it is super nice here for November!!!

I headed to the area I take my EMTB and rode around the dirt trails for a bit…

the uneven terrain is pretty hard for me…
I just can’t get or keep any speed and momentum…
so I was crawling the whole time…

but it was still fun and I got to pet some nice puppers…

ended up doing about 6.6 miles and ended up at 50% battery…

My front knee is hating it though…
I gotta stick to really short rides for now…

This is my concern too. Will my skateboard riding instincts hamper the onewheel learning. Even stepping off with my front foot first will be weird. Hopefully I can adapt.

dudes.
I tell you what.

jumping on one of the little boards right after riding around the Pint a bit is so weird…

one of these things is not like the other…

I thought this board was so flowy and carvy… and it is… it is tiny and has has 145mm axles…

but after a little float jumping on the board it feels super duper stiff… and what a rough ride…
the perspective is so different after just jumping off the Pint…

And this board is probably one of my slowest toping off around 21, and it feels so much faster than the Pint…

most definitely different strokes!!!

I’ve ridden a lot with folks that were on Onewheel XR boards and even the slow shortboards (25 - 33mph)(40 - 53km/h) are like Top Fuel dragsters, comparatively.

And then, we hit a patch of gravel, and the funwheels all fly by me like dragsters.

Definitely different machines.

Are you comfortable carving on the onewheel yet?

yeah dude.
I mean I am never going really fast.
but on smooth flat ground I can carve and do super tight turns and j turns.

don’t quite have reverts yet. I can kind of do them but never too well

Gonna borrow a pint before o pull the trigger on the x. Your input is helping a lot. :joy:

Want one to use with the doggo since all my boards are behemoths.

i expect it would be really good for that, provided your dog doesnt yank you really hard on rides…

but yeah. slow and small distances I think is something this is great for…

@TheBoardGarage

been a year…
is the hoosier slick 10.5x5.0-6 d10 still the pint tire you would recommend?

are you putting one on your X?

I am scared of changing a tire.
but I think I am going to do it…

I would like a better flat patch for more stability…

if I can’t find a D10 what is next best???

Yes, I still prefer it. I put it back on my Pint Regular, which went to the kids. And when I’m done with my Pint X review, I’ll put it on there as well. It’s really a great tire.

If you’re not comfortable changing the tire, then I recommend finding one help. It’s very daunting at first, and takes a few tries before it gets comfortable.

If the D10a isn’t available, I think you could find D30a. But One Stop Board Shop usually has it in stock. And if not, any kart supy store like TS Racing will have it. Or Craft and Ride I think.

I am not pumped about it…
and I am in an island…
so no help to be gotten…

but I think I am going to pursue it still…

also you have not changed your mind about threaded ties right…
I foresee mostly pavement riding anyways…

gearing up right now to go ride the Pint…

Yeah I’m still not a fan. The vibration on pavement really bugs me, and I don’t ride trails THAT often. And when I do, the softer slick tires have about as much grip as I’d need, since anything that they’ll slip on is usually too steep for me to make up anyway. I’m no Jake Leary in that regard, the guy seems to just literally float.

Anyway, I may do a tire change video on the Pint X in January…have my buddy Paul come help. He’s the tire guy in NYC. I’m not sure what your personal timeline is, but frankly the stock tire is good enough to just ride down to the threads. Get your money’s worth out of it, I think.

Stupid youtube…my Jan 31st GT ship date seemed like forever and in a weak moment, I bought a pint x. Gonna be an expensive conversation with the wifey :joy:. I suppose I can sell the pint x once the GT arrive, but in the meantime…can’t wait for the pint x!!
