Fixed, I can only say : SoonTM
Look at 3 out of 4 of your wheels
analog or gravity skate
I should have some more pictures of material test results tomorrow if the equipment I need arrives in time
I was thinking about epoxy gluing trampa gummies directly to the hubs to prevent the wheels from possibly coming off while goin 25+ mph but this metal hub thane project is amazing riptide i dam sure would to see these wheels be sold we need actual good esk8 thane wheels with metal cores not this plastic abs shit.
Brad, can you give us an update on the developments of this product?
Yes, we have stalled but we are not dead yet. I have explored many paths with some promising results but current expansion needs and more business than we can comfortably handle has overwhelmed this project for the time being.
I must confront our present to insure our futureā¦
Could you answer a general question I had about this composite wheel,
is it possible to make a rounded wheel/without squared off edges? or would you have to make a square wheel then round it after the fact.
That way you could make wheels for a Freeboard or if you made the wheels like the good momentum hollow wheels with the cambered profile that would be cool.
bit of a silly question given I would never be able to order wheels from you⦠just interested in the limitations of the production method.
Mold, mold, mold ![]()
Same as street skateboard wheels or inline skate wheels, you only need shaped molds as far as I know.
Partially true depending on the molding style. Open mold can have the bottom corner rounded but the open end will have a sharp edge that needs to be rounded
Dibs
Is the a general size limit for these or can you make basically any size?
Looking for around 11x6 in, with whatever tread thickness you think would be ok. Less would be ok because this would be for track racing mainly.
Airless tires in 120 to 140mm range. You said hybrid and that is the hybrid tire size that makes sense. Above 150mm pneumatics are common.
I trust in your material technology and Iām sure you can create tires that have the best of pneumatics and urethane. Build real hybrids.
Kegel or Abec cores. Abec is more common but in terms of robustness most people prefer kegel cores I think.
Important for me: smoother ride compared to urethane with slightly more grip and not a very huge hit on battery meaning the contact patch, hardness and rebound is optimized.
Iād be happy with just a new metal core urethane skate wheel around 110mm
Apparently Hoyt is developing a 5 inch pneumatic tire as well
On a torquey street setup with abec or kegel, easy swapping 5 inch pneumatics (if trucks allow) would make it a nice street board for general traffic
How awesome would that be. My range with pneumatics is poopoo but Iāve had some scary slips carving on thanes. By the grace of whoever I didnāt bail - I donāt have that skillz to do that sideways-slide-and-recover thing that downhill guys do.
Something that splits the difference between pneumatics and thanes would be amazing. Stoked to see these come out.
Abec would be awesome. Wanna fit these on my future BN M1 kit.
My idea as well. With kegel core 140ish mm I can switch between torquey street and faster hybrids more suited for traffic use maybe.
Maybe just look at what cloud wheels are trying to do, but do it much better Riptide style
