Yeah, new kit!

2WD is great for a nice shortboard cruiser like this.

I’m gonna use this as my neighborhood board. It’ll replace my Boosted Mini X.

The 4WD Board is still my main ride & is just a beast. Amazing acceleration/braking, excellent top speed, & fantastic range.

I usually carry 2 spare XT Batteries with me all the time if I’m wearing my backpack.

XT Battery.

I tried to keep the throttle pinned as much as possible on the ride…was a bit difficult this morning as traffic was higher than usual.

I’m 6’4", 216lbs fully weighted (helmet, backpack, etc) so that cuts down on my range significantly.

Considering I would only get 7 miles max on my Mini X, it was a pound heavier, & the top speed was 20-22, this is def an upgrade.

With mods you can swap batteries with One Wheel to add range just like the Revel Kit

I can’t seem to get how to disperse my weight when I’m breaking. I lean back, but still feel pressure on my front foot, therefore, the back wheels have a tendency to break traction and slide a bit. When you guys break, do you lean back and put pressure on the back wheels? Am I supposed to ease pressure on the front wheels when breaking?

How much do you weigh. How long is your deck? No Kick? Single Kick? Double Kick?

Hey @BillGordon !!! Why is it that I can no longer edit my posts. The edit pencil is missing. Can you fix it?

I just lean back, have only had the traction break loose when on gravel surfaces.

@pkasanda you have to be a regular or higher now to edit posts

I’m wondering what the usecase for 4WD is. I thought about it for a bit as well but I never had situations where the torque of 2WD or acceleration isn’t enough for me. Also damn, the weight of this. One drive is already suuper heavy

But I’m also not a speed junkie and ride mostly in the city.

Ah you can’t edit posts anymore?

I wanted to add: For offroad stuff 4WD makes more sense but with the motors so close to the ground I wouldn’t dare to go into anything more stoney without risking motor damage. Direct drive doesn’t really feel like the best solution for all terrain

When you weigh over 200 lbs, the extra torque comes in handy. Range more than doubles. Brakes and traction also double. 4WD is pretty important on a Revel Kit if you are a heavier rider and you want to run on larger wheels. Without it, the range can be pretty short for a big rider on big wheels. I’m addicted to 4WD. Its heavy but it’s worth it.

I’m wondering whether more of you have the following experience: at full throttle/max speed, I’m experiencing some small wobbling coming from the back motors or wheels.

Context:
I’m riding on perfectly flat surfaces (like our beloved cycling paths here in The Netherlands), and at any other speed, it’s all perfectly fine. So I’m in speedmode 4, got hard black bushings boardside and medium hard red bushings roadside. 2WD, motors at the back. Superstiff deck, stock Revel wheels. So at almost top speed, all is fine. But as soon as I hit that last bit of throttle (like the last 4 or 5 mm on the remote, let’s say), my rear becomes a bit wobbly. Doesn’t throw me off, but I also don’t dare to keep going full speed. As soon as I lay off the throttle a little bit, the wobbling is gone again and it rolls/feels stable again.

I’ve tried tightening the bushings, doesn’t make a difference. Wheels are fine, all hardware is checked and good. Therefore, I have the feeling it has to do with the motors generating some kind of vibration, but again, only at maximum throttle. I’ve tried reversing, so motors in the front. Same story: at full speed the motors seem to get a little unstable and create a small wobble, causing me to back of a little bit and ride at let’s say 90% top speed.

Do any of you recognize this?

It seems like some people on here are pretty knowledgable about circuitry/electricity. I want to get a portable charger for the remote. I couldn’t really find a straight answer to this elsewhere. The remote has a small 250 mAh 3.7V battery, and most portable chargers these days have a 5V/2A output. Therefore, do most power banks (multi-certified for overcharge protection, etc) regulate the current flow to a safe output for the small remote battery? Do any of you take power banks on the go to charge your remote?

Hey guys, I managed to fit Onsra 115mm wheels to my revel kit kegel adapter. It didn’t fit out of the box, the holes a liitle bit smaller than the adapter pegs.

I used sandpaper to cut down the inner side of pegs a little bit and it finally fit.
The fix looks not great not terrible. Hope the adapter will not crack, but definitely this is a way to destroy it.

Are you saying that you’ve actually tried to go 30mph on the Revel kit?

Well, yeah…Is that an odd thing? Not all the time of course, I’m cruising around in a relaxed pace most of the time, but every now and then, I wanna slam it. Don’t most of us? (I’ve got the board so that it’s set up for max speed. (Stiff deck, right bushings, somewhat carvy but mostly tight kingpin, etc etc).

Haha idk I’ve never wanted to go 30 on the Revel, maybe I don’t trust it or it’s my setup or something.

I heard someone mention this oscillation thing before but not with the normal wheels. What’s the charge of the board when this usually happens? I don’t really have a solution for you unfortunately because we have no idea what causes it

This is on full charge, both on the st and the ext battery. Doesn’t change if the charge drops, the oscillation is there regardless. I’m going to try ABEC 11 flywheels 97 mm on the Revel Kit tonight, see if that makes a difference. Thanks for your brainpower btw, much appreciated!

Really weird. Yeah I’ve seen it happen before with cloudwheels and on the bench, but I have no clue why it happens honestly.

I don’t think any other skateboard with the hobbywing esc goes 30mph though tbh
