Revel at the "brand" new competitor in the direct drive Esk8 race!

Also another question :joy: what is the maximum recommended current to charge the remote battery? Has anyone tried charging it with a fast charger (maybe 2A-3A)? I’m assuming this wouldn’t be good for the battery, but also, I’m not exactly sure of the technicalities with this stuff.

Hmm I don’t think I’ve tested the endurance with my 500mAh battery yet but it’s at least twice as long I would think.

Possibly, there is more functionality built into them than is being utilized currently. I don’t think that there will be any updates to the functionality in terms of reducing it, but in the future, a larger battery will definitely be introduced.

Yeah I agree, it is unfortunate that some of the batteries aren’t lasting as long as they should. If you get in contact with support they may be able to help you out if your endurance times are really that bad. I would suggest just bringing a portable charger and planning a charging break or two into the ride if it’s gonna be really long.

Yeah this has been proven to be bad for the batteries as far as we can tell - I recommend charging from the Revel battery itself or a computer USB port. Fast charging them too many times can lead to even more reduced endurance.

Thinking about my next deck and been eyeing the basalt tesseract from loaded. My current tarab build is uber long and flexy so something smaller and stiffer looks nice for variety.

What do you think? Can the basalt tesseract with 90mm work?

All the Revel Kits are supposed to come with the angled socket wrench right? I ordered a custom build with the Earthwing deck and only seem to have received the T-tool and not the angled socket wrench. I tried taking off the kit using the T-tool but its pretty difficult bcs of things getting in the way.

Yes they are actually - hit up customer service and they should get you square away, will probably just send you one

Just got my kit today, it’s so frickin fun!! So far, remote battery life is above 50% after 7 miles, which is awesome. There’s one quality control issue I came across, very small, but still worth mentioning. When I got the kit, one of the screws on the plate covering the motor wires/bushings was loose. I tightened it down and it seemed fine, although was a little loose, but nothing to where it seemed like it was fall off. I looked back at it after a ride and the screw was gone. Not sure what happened, maybe the screw wasn’t long enough? Anyway, what size screws are they so I can buy one?

Also, when charging the battery, is it safe to leave it on the charger after it’s fully charged/is there a voltage cutoff in the charger?

Check the very bottom of the box. My recollection is that mine was just tossed in the bottom. I put the whole thing together with the T-Wrench before I even realized there was a better tool hiding under the foam blocks.

I rode a friend’s tesseract/revel kit. The deck has nice concavity but I found it too short and stiff for my roads. I think it depends greatly on the pavement quality. If you are in a mild climate and your roads are not dimpled from snow plows, salt and freeze then you might really like it. If you roads suck, I think you might regret it because the deck is not cheap. The tesseract is certainly a well constructed double kick deck. But it’s suitability as an electric long boad deck could score any where from 0 to 10 depending on pavement quality and rider height. Personally, I think its a bit short for a 6 foot tall plus rider. Consider your own height and how fast you want to travel.

I’ve really enjoyed every loaded deck that I’ve tried including the tesseract. So far I’ve test rode the Dirvish and the tesseract. I own the Tarab and the Vanguard. As a taller rider, I favor the Tarab and the Vanguard.

Yeah that’s fine, they are protected and stop charging when it’s full

Lmao actually same :joy:

You remote battery life seems particularly short. However, the battery life tends to improve over the first 6 - 10 charge cycles. So if you have only gone on a few rides, don’t give up on your remote yet. Charge completely between rides and you may see your remote range improve noticibly.

Brand new, my remote life was less than an hour. Two years later, it closer to 2 hours.

When the battery life was shorter, I found that ten minutes of charging with a small portable power bank can put about 30 minutes of riding time into a depleted remote. Its not something you want to do often because deep charge cycles are better for battery health. But now and then, its a good way to get back on the road.

These days, I travel with two remotes. If the first one gives out, I’m all set to re-pair to the fresh remote and plug the depleted remote into a small power bank. However, that has not happened for a very long time because my remote range has improved greatly since purchase.

I am surprised to see so many complaints about the remote battery. I have 6 revel batteries, 4 of them are extended range. If I leave with a fully charged remote, it will survive until I deplete all my batteries and then some. I’m guessing about 3 hours. I have a pretty new batch of remotes because my old one got lost. Not sure what my battery was like in the old remote, but I do think it was worse.

I checked all the boxes, under the foam, etc. Then I shot an email to Flo. Even if I don’t get one not a huge deal I can go get one from the local hardware store if I’m desperate enough to switch decks within my first week lol.

Vanguard, Dervish, Icarus are all nice decks but I feel they won’t be that much different than the Tarab, just a tad shorter. Might be really wrong of course as well.

And I’m a sucker for Loaded too :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, here’s to hope my second kit is arriving anytime soon and not in 2 months.

My kit took 1 month and 1 week to get here. They seem to be getting better with shipment times from what I’ve seen, so hopefully it’s not too long.

New 2WD Revel Loaded Poke Build with 90mm Boosted Wheels

Really fun, super light board. Super nimble & portable.

Range was much higher than expected. Was a pleasant surprise.

Is that a new Revel Kit, or do you sweep the streets before riding? Cuz’ goddamm those engines look unharmed still!

@Joeeskate what is your take on the 2WD vs the 4WD you were using before? I would think having 2WD and another battery in a back pack would take you further than 4WD using both batteries at the same time.

Was this a SR battery? If so, I agree, not bad on the range department. I can easily get 12 with the XR, more if I’m not pinning the throttle at 100 lol
