Indeed. Good thing that I am building in Fluxmotion enclosure, so there are separate compartments. I can not image what would have happened if batteries were near the vesc.

Wut? For LiIon & LiPo I thought it was #S * 4.2 = voltage

For the really stupid descriptions, incorrectly #S * 3.7 = voltage

3.7 being lowest charge of cell, 4.2 being highest…

Aka 12S = 50.4V, so neither the label nor your description is correct.

3.6/ 3.7 is 50% as far as I know.

Chargers and BMS’s are rated at peak. There’s a reason a 50.4v charger is called a 12s charger.

Okay, I’m pulling that out of my ass. Chargers are rated at peak. I’m presuming BMS’s are also rated at peak… because why wouldn’t they be?

3.6/3.7 (moreso 3.7 past like 2014 manufacturing?) Is nominal, and things aren’t rated in nominal. At least in the U.S. side of things.

Yeah I also dont know why the “nominal” standard exists either, seems dumb. Either way, 48V is wrong no matter what and thats what I was complaining about.

I’m worried that it might be mixing up LiIon and LifePO4 at the factory.

48/14 is very close to 3.4 which is a meaningful number in LifePO4 chemistry (either nominal or close to the point that it operates most of its life at, and the other 30% is from 3.4 to completely dead ~2V ish)

So i would be concerned on whether or not it’s actually a LiIon BMS or LifePO4 BMS

Many Lifepo parts are labeled " Li-ion LifePo" and it drives me insane. If I were in the meeting with Daly when they decided on this reckless labeling system I would have been fired for flipping every table in the building.

U shoud see the ones with both written on the aliexpress page with only chinese on the physical product. I buy my BMS’s from forum members like @BenjaminF and others now.

I don’t even know what I’m going to use these for. I’ve got two, and had planned to use one for my Kaly build, but after I ordered them, it occured to me I’d have no room for the BMS if I went 14s. So, I ordered another 13s one. If someone needs a 14s BMS, let me know. I’ll sell one for what I paid.
