Radium R6 trucks & Thane belts

Just to check, I want to upgrade my BKB Duo with 6384-Motors with better trucks and the 4GS Gear Drive from Newbee.

These should be compatible with the 4GS aswell as the 6384 Motors, right?

Quite new to all of this, so i just want to ask.

Someone can correct me, but I think you’d need truck adapters for the newbee gear drives in a 22x22 r3(?) profile. Not sure the typical 22x22 adapters would work…

Please dont make me get two sets

You will have to check with @Ean.esk8 to see if his 4GS will fit these properly

Legendsss, that makes 10 so these trucks are going ahead!

I’d like to just thank @Savage1 for offering to machine this batch of trucks at his expense just to see it go ahead in the event we couldn’t get enough orders which is incredibly generous of him. But in this case we have enough orders to continue as originally planned.

Some of the parts like axles and pivot tubes have already been manufactured. We’re ordering APS tall barrels and cones in almost every duro from @RipTideSports to test our proposed soft/medium/hard setup options for different weight categories. Once confirmed I’ll be posting a bushing chart which will help with tuning and we’ll make a range of bushings available on our site in case you want to add some to your order before they ship for more tuning options.

We’ll also do our best to beat the expected delivery date!

Well there are these threaded M4 accessory holes on the mounts.

One of the guys running our Matrix 3 motor mounts has made his own brace reinforced with threaded rods taking advantage of the accessory holes on those.

There are currently no gear drives that fit our trucks from what I’ve seen. The @3DServisas style drives would require forward mounting to clear the baseplate, and seem to require a lot of hangar width so motor size would be limited on these 233mm hangars.

I would imagine similar issues for the 4GS @Ean.esk8 drives, but just so we can find out (and for those wanting to make their own mounts for say open gear drive or checking deck clearance), here is a simplified .STEP model of the R6 30 degree truck including hangar profile (20x20mm) and 10mm axles.

Look like Valkyrie trucks, if they feel like them too they should be amazing.

these are

split? kp

very different

@poastoast Pretty sure these are also split, none of the photos show a good side view but you can see the road side bushing not lining up

oh shit you right

i don’t see that in the step file, but it is simplified, so i guess that’d explain why the triangle bit is so big! got ha beans

yup you right, i see the 2 kingpins on the og pics too

Yeah similar offset bushing setup but interestingly for a different reason.

Valks started with that setup to have a “coplanar” bushing system meaning that instead of the usual 3-5mm gap between bushings on a normal truck, separating the bushings allows for a 0mm gap which based on my prototypes which have even had a negative offset where the bushing is sunken below the pivot centre, doesn’t offer much benefit.

The reason ours is offset is because we moved the board side bushing out to be relatively in line with the axles to offer more support, and then moved the road side bushing in for ground clearance with the lower rear truck angle.

In testing I discovered that having the board side bushing further out feels really good. You get a nice strong centre and really nice mid turn support.

The worst prototype I tested was #5 (left) which had both bushings moved in towards the pivot. This had a very weak centre and mid turn felt very twitchy and unsteady despite an effective slop stopper support pin.

Prototype #4 (right) which had too strong of a centre and was too expensive.

Sling that shit over the shoulder like a buster sword.

Split bushing system

And…

Double stepped bushing seat for the @RipTideSports tall chubby bushings.
With this setup you have a lot of thane and more than double the rigidity against unwanted hangar slop.

They are great for feeling solid AF at speed but less playful. Working on a best of both solution…

Be nice if in future you offered plates/combo for mountainboard boards. I’d love to try your trucks with a flowstate board.

These particular trucks are definitely too narrow to be used on a mountainboard deck

Wider hangars and MTB deck baseplates definitely planned.

Just need to see if this is even a viable product first.

Gotta get people off 50 year old trucks. If someone told Randy Fuller in the 70s that people in 2023 had these super advanced FOC direct fet inverters driving crazy power dense brushless motors attached with precision machined mounts to his same truck design with stacks from speed wobbles a common occurrence he’d probably be a bit shocked.

Thane belts are in!

Anyone who struggles with belts or just wants more performance from their board, give these a try :call_me_hand:

Shoot me a message if you’d like to add them to an existing order and I’ll sort that for you.

If you’d like to try them but run a different size, let me know so I can get an idea of what sizes to have manufactured next.

Any plans for 20mm wide ones?
