Exactly, he shouldn’t advertise it like this if it’s not meant to be trusted.
i still didn’t understood, something broke unrepairable or somebody got hurt here?
Neither, but no one is thinking of the children. Or the nuns.
why wait until the worst has happened? is it wrong to identify a big issue (that evidently multiple ppl are experiencing) before a big accident happens? listen to yourselves, seriously
this is a dangerous sport but some of you just really throw caution to the wind
Dexter has not publicly fixed the situation besides saying that he will check into how QC is done on these. What more are people expecting to come out of this? @worldismine772 I don’t understand why there still needs to be an argument here
Maybe warning labels need to be applied for those people that for some reason think strapping these on is a perfectly maintenance free one step solution. I don’t care what anyone thinks, you should check your board before you ride.
I just asked because I mean
what’s the problem here???
OP had a problem with his TB DD.
He starts this thread to let others know about that issue so that other TB DD user can check that with their drives to not have the same issues.
@torqueboards said sorry and that his QC will have a special eye on the loctite part in future.
That’s it.
I mean I do not stay on any side. It’s good there is this thread, but where should it go now? @torqueboards should refund somebody or what? Don’t get why.
I like this… It’s so true even regarding the most bullet-proof products we buy, and very relevant to this topic too.
Take the VESC for example … I personally consider the VESC 6 as the gold standard. It fails. Hardware fails, software isn’t just perfect all the time and fails occasionally too.
Cloud wheels… no need to go into that.
Decks delaminate.
Wheels chunk. Tubes pop. Tires blow out. Rims crack.
Bearings seize.
Connectors fail.
Not blaming anyone. It is DIY. Vendors market their products. Everything fails eventually.
Enough has been said about personal responsibility, how much are we willing to take, and how much are we going to place on others… I guess that’s what we are arguing in this topic
Personally I’ve always disassembled every ‘DIY’ component enough to check the integrity of the solder joints, connection strength, loctite application, whatever it is, and put it back together to a standard I am comfortable trusting my life with, that’s just me.
A pamphlet with proper maintenance tips, information on how to verify correct assembly… all the other suggestions in this thread… This happening would be a good thing.
people keep fueling it with extreme stupidity and excuses, including you, so I feel the need to respond because it’s not excusable
Agreed.
But it should be clear what parts of the product come apart so the user knows what to check. When I built this I didnt know that the drives can disassemble as much as they did. I’m for more information is all.
Edit:
Another idea I had.
Where do you draw the line? Should I be completely disassembling my motors? My VESC’s?
I think that line need to be clearly defined by the individual OEM.
It really just seems to me like you enjoy triggering people by the way you respond to them. Focus on the solution, not shooting people
@jack.luis That makes sense.
equally, they trigger me by saying stupid shit in an attempt to normalize a significant issue
then on some level, I like to keep this towards the top so anyone considering buying TorqueBoards Direct Drives is aware of their faults and can make informed decisions because the manufacturer, TorqueBoards, fails to adequately do so, particularly when it pertains to their TorqueBoards Direct Drive setup
because I’m pretty certain whatever he said itt will prove to be an empty promise
Hm seems familiar lol
I’m personally done replying in this thread, as far as I’m concerned the issue has been presented and there no longer a need to discuss this further. @worldismine772 Thanks for your expression of the issues you’ve had.
Thanks, your thoughts, opinions and advisement of your intent to not reply further are super appreciated
My pleasure
*See dumpsters above
I wonder what takes longer for you, photoshopping aqua blob or updating some text on your website to be accurate
Or better yet, perhaps a more constructive use of your time could be checking on my 90kv RMA that you’ve been sitting on since 11/16/2020 at 11:49 am, which is a set of TorqueBoards Direct Drives that failed in <1mile, after it took over 1 month to ship them
I like this thread.
Not because of what happened, rather because it’s good entertainment.
at this point yes it is, because surely nothing will ever get done because of it
I don’t want to only bad mouth him, everything except his DD’s have never failed me (i’ll still not buy from him and equally i am sure he’ll not take any orders from me)
