yeah yeah I know, my cloud wheel has a crack, i’m trying to read all the messages i missed since i posted the pic ; i was asking if the manufacturer admitted there was an issue, and if i have to change mine if I don’t want to eat concrete ^^"
Sort of, probably. I think they are sending new ones to people with cracks. Probably good idea to change it.
I got my wheels via ownboard with the board, so i’m guessing i’m fucked and have to buy the new set ? ^^’
I would email em anyway, they may not keep track, or they might just exchange it to avoid bad publicity
I will be watching this development with a keen eye and a song in my heart. I really want to get a proper set of these back on one of my boards.
No. Enertion wheels are made in dongguan factory. Is different.
I need to go to bed. I thought that said Enertion wheels are made in doughnut factory…
Is probably the same quality.
@JsDenton… You know I was joking when I said you and six others had posted the same picture? Right? But the thumb in the picture or something else unique is not a bad idea if you are sending them pictures to ask for a replacement. Maybe take your pictures on a recent newspaper with the date showing.
I wonder is not being honest about how many problems there are. But they seem to be willing to do anything to cover it up including banning people from their facebook page and deleting posts of cracked and broken wheels. So like @BillGordon suggested, put this to your advantage. Contact them directly with your pictures and ask for a replacements made out of the new plastic. The old plastic seems to split at the thick points of the bearing socket (spoke intersections). So any plastic that is not the old plastic has a reasonable chance of being better. Insist on the new plastic even if you have to wait a while. See if that works.
Is this an iWonder Cloud wheel issue only, or do the SR Foamies have the same problem?
I emailed SR. The reply I received was that the Foamies have no issue and that the iWonder Cloud wheel is a knock-off.
SR’s reply: “We havent ourselves had any issues. A copy of the wheel cloudwheels hs had some issues, but they are being inflated by one user on facebook.”
Inspect each wheel carefuly. Take high res pictures with your camera and flash. Take pictures with bearings in and out. Transfer the pictures to your computer and zoom. If you find cracks, use them to ask for replacements. If they say no, then post them more broadly and see if you get a different answer. But I suspect they will promptly offer you replacements if you can show them cracks. Maybey put something unique in the picture like a piece of paper with your signature or your reciept, or take the picture on a recent newspaper with the date visible. Then it is harder for them to say your pictures are not genuine.
I have a set that came with my ownboard as well. I do see a small hairline but i don’t think it’s a crack. I wish OB will send people with the updated 120D wheels but i don’t think any OB wheels has issues so far.
“only 6 crack reports from consumers”
…right uh huh
“don’t use bolts pulley on their wheels”
oh so you know the other 20 kinds of abec wheels that we use bolt on pullies just fine on? Oh those must not be as good as the cloud wheels of course.
“One picture of broken wheels on the internet”
Guess they didn’t see the 10 on here huh
Mold lines don’t travel in weird ways like cracks do. It is really obvious if it is a crack or a mold line. It is possible that it could crack on a mold line but if they are manufacturing them well it wouldn’t.
Also @pkasanda if that pic with the black foam fingers was a render I don’t think you’d see the mold line on the wheel that is laying down (around the outside) the reflections also look slightly too realistic to be a render, but who knows, some people go super hard with their renders
Hey bro-
Bumped your account so you’re not limited. SR is blowing smoke on this because both wheels are made in the same factory AFAIK.
Welcome!
…hummmm… I was thinking … some of the most popular wheels we use for Esk8 today (Flywheels, Superflies, Boas, TB110s, etc) were first throughly tested during months by riders like @b264 before we forum members even had the chance to try them! …but I can not recall if iWonder Wheels went thru the same process?? I think that was not the case!! iWonder Wheels were rushed into the wild with no previous testing phase as soon an immediately as they appeared in Chinese sites as Slick Revolutions clones
. Baaaaddd thing
.
There was a Foamies Fever through the Esk8 world in a matter of couple of weeks and everybody jumped on the bandwagon when iWonder Wheels (Foamies clones) were suddenly discovered. Someone found the mother loath! Now, few months after their discovery, with no previous testing of the miracle wheels, we got ourselves a hub craking pandemic! iWonder why?
Yall dramatic as hell lol. Few cracked plastic wheels and only 1 completely separated and that’s a pandemic for you… Meanwhile during the real pandemic they’re digging mass grave out there…
Only six cases. Soon there will be none.
Theres a guy in Insta with a set of orange foamies an three of them had cracks, Bro. Is everywhere.
Yeah so? There’s less sets of cloud wheels ever made than the current pandemic death count right now. Calling some cracked wheels a pandemic is hella disrespectful to everyone who’s lost someone to the real pandemic…
