return the board…or dump the entire battery pack.
The liquid inside the cell is a bit corrosive (it’s salty) so it could cause rusting but there would be a strong, sickly-sweet solvent type odor if the cells leaked/vented. The cell liquid (electrolyte) could leave behind some whitish salt residue too.
But nickel-plated strips practically rust if you breathe on them so the water could certainly have caused that rusting.
Phew, I gently wafted as chemistry taught me and smelled nothing odd.
The nickel breathing comment is both comical and reassuring. Thanks dude, hope you’re having a wonderful day.
Thank you and the same to you!
I know it’s been said a bunch of times already but it is such a blessing to have you on the forum!
Thank you for your kind words.
I did indeed! Have only for gotten about 50mi on each thus far thanks to winter arriving right after they did, but it’s been a lot of fun. Zeus is my go to, will find the Cane a new home when the weather and market warm back up.
I finally received the Zeus today, about 1.5 months from ordering. Haven’t had the chance to ride it and probably won’t until Monday due to rain and snowboard/ski weekend trip.
Here are some takeaways right off the bat. I do not like the look of the foam grip tape, I get the reason for it, but it’s so thick. The finish is not the best as I can see plenty of uneven spots in the epoxy, sad to say, Evolve did a much better job polishing their turd. Really should have sand & polished it down more before that final coat. I checked all the bolts, the truck hardware was loose, the motor mount bolts were all loose, one belt had too much tension. I swapped out all the garbage bearings for lesser garbage (reds). Also I didn’t realize their lid was not fully forged CF, only the center is, the ends are just black…plastic? aluminum?. I’m guessing it’s to prevent RF blocking? @Venom121212 Do you happen to know what the lid is made of?
Hmmm I don’t have it on me anymore but I thought the lid was all one material that looked and felt like carbon fiber.
Here’s a picture of the lid where the center has the forged carbon fiber but the rest is just black. Really smooth transition though
Zeus Pro is apparently on the horizon/has been partially shipped already.
Some say it has an improved esc for more power, other say it’s the angle of the motors that has been improved. (And oil slick)
the oil slick could have been better
I hear there’s a model with molicel m50a and molicel p42a.
not a fan of the oil slick.
Yeah, but nice to see effort made.
Agreed.
If the Zeus Pro uses Molicel batteries. It will be a nice change as well.
Dang, those actually look pretty good!
I spent hours and hours searching for a 13 or 14 tooth motor pulley for my Zeus. 10mm D shaft, 5M belt, 15mm wide. Finally found them at electric scooter parts, $26 with shipping I ordered a pair of 13 tooth. Had to drill and tap my own set screw (10-24 drill bit and tap set Home Depot) and shorten 10-24 setscrews. The tiny setscrews in the 15 tooth motor pulleys stripped and I had to buy a small gear puller to get them off. Used locktite on the shaft and setscrew. Used the 275 belt. Have 100+ miles on 13:44 with 97mm urethanes. It’s plenty torquey for me, haven’t tested full range, but there’s lots of steep hills here and I’m 180 lbs all up, do lots of full throttle up hills and out of corners, top speed on straights, about 26 miles and come home with 2 battery bars left. Top speed is 27mph with 100% to 60% battery then 26 mph from 60% to like 20%. Good speed for me, you can pop in the 40 tooth wheel pulleys with the 97’s and get about 28.6mph. 13:44 with 120 clouds is 32mph. 13:40 with 120 clouds is 35mph.
