Admittedly, I’d actually disagree in this case, first off let’s clear up the battery confusion on the Ownboard. It’s a really stupid naming scheme that confuses everyone including me tbh.
So I’d argue that the 2wd 13s5p priced at $1480 is a better comparison to the $1900 defiant.
In which case the Ownboard has a very slight battery advantage.
The stormcore is certainly more powerful and smooth than the hobby wing but it’s admittedly hard to beat Hobbywing reliability and depending on when the SCs were shipped I’d have concerns about their reliability.
Again, definitely more powerful than the Chinese board motors and most likely objectively better but I’ve had pretty poor luck with flipsky motors and excellent luck with Chinese ones from the same manufacturer as Ownboard. You’re still probably correct on this one but I’ve gotten unlucky with flipsky so I’m biased.
I’ve had pretty poor experiences with m1 Street drives, as have a lot of people. Maybe there are more of them out there than I’d guess but I would definitely take a belt drive over the M1s on the defiant, I’d call this bias but it seems I’m not the only one either
That is a huge benefit to the defiant that you literally just can’t do on a Hobbywing setup, big points to the defiant there.
Also you can still get the 4WD version for $1680 which is still less than the defiant if 4wd is your thing.
