I love it so far. Works great. Throttle feels smooth. I can see the screen in the sunlight. Everything I need.

That’s solid then, I’m glad they stuck with the UART port interface.

Round 1 will ship out when I return from CO. Rev2 PCBs are currently being assembled while I’m away, I wanted to ship with this version as it includes remote battery monitoring & radio RSSI- both features I think are important.

I may have a few extra remotes from this first round I’ll make available to those on the sign up list when I get back.

Round 2 will likely start next month, shipping by end of July.

I’m intending to keep each and every remote hand built and road tested.

@DerelictRobot how robust are the actual thumbwheel?

Idk a black remote? That’s pretty custom. Not sure how he would manage such a color.

Just from personal experience, it’s super robust. I literally came down so hard on it a few days ago that I’m surprised that the remote didn’t turn into dust. The only thing that happened is the “joystick” part of it snapped off. Which in my mind was a blessing. I sanded down the jagged part and use it solely as a whole thumb wheel now and I fucking love it! I know I could just replace it, but I don’t want too.

@SeanHacker you leave my board out of this. She’s too much lady for you anyway.

I can say that Sean and I are doing our best to break the shit out of these remotes in new and interesting ways

As Sean said, his has taken two crashes. The second one he came down on the throttle and broke the knob off. Remote still functions fine and he likes the roller it was modified to, weirdo.

I’ve dropped my remote probably a dozen times, directly on the thumbwheel, etc. No issues. Last night I got bear hugged by Ernesto and the remote went flying, dropped about 8ft to concrete to land directly on the throttle. Knob did break off but I glued it back on and all is well. Functionally it still worked fine without the knob.

So yeah, they’re robust. They can break like anything can, but they can put up with a good amount of abuse.

How are the “not drilling through depth marks” efforts going, Tim?

About the only Gerber not interested in getting from this project

I held @DerelictRobot’s dong today. It felt natural in my hand. Throttle response was beautiful. Perfect amount of resistance on the thumb throttle. Quality work bud.
