Sorry, here is the place u change it:

when checking my 10s balance leads they go to 38.* volts but when I check the man power it only goes to 37.*. is this normal?

If by “checking balance leads” you mean summing up all the voltages then yeah, small errors could accumulate and the numbers could be different. But if you’re measuring the whole pack at different places and getting a different result, then I would be worried about a bad connection. Which could just be your multimeter probes not being pressed hard enough

Do these cutoffs look right for 12s:

I seem to be destroying my battery very fast. Range is dropping.

It could also be just that I’m riding much harder lately.

I’ve run it completely flat several times.

They’re perfectly fine cutoff values, that’s exactly how i set mine up.

Do you have a smart bms? If you are noticing significant reduced range, there may be something up with your battery.

Not entirely sure what you mean by summary
Pictures could help explaining

dw everything matches. im just blind

I have a BMS but I’m not sure how smart it is. It almost always says 100%12AH remaining no matter what the voltage is:

But maybe that’s normal for a BMS with bypassed discharge.

This is the 23km ride I did yesterday that flattened my battery

I feel like I could have gone twice as far four months ago when the board was new.

Some of that would be because I was riding grandma style when it was new and the DKPs were scaring me. This time I was on RKP and going flat out uphill at times.

Well yeah since the discharge is bypassed there’s no way for it to tell hour much current has traveled through it

It’s the same on mine

Is it a 12ah battery?

That bms allows you to program the expected capacity of the battery so you can tune the readings to accurately represent your remaining capacity. I would say that you might not have it set correctly.

Riding harder would definitely take a toll. From what i can see in that screen shot, your battery is well balanced, so there’s probably not a great deal to be concerned about there.

Has anyone designed a mtb with the ability to swap out a normal li-ion brick pack for lipo pouches and back, when needed to cut weight, in a top mount box?

You’d need different esc settings i imagine, but maybe that’s as easy as setting up a 2nd profile in the mobile VESC tool. Can’t remember if that’s a thing

I’d say a lot have done it (myself included) I swap voltages as well as chemistry.

1x 10s liion pack and a second 12s lipo pack.
I ride the one empty, swap it over and just apply a mode via metr, done.

It’s a “12s3p 40T Battery” so I believe it is 12AH yes.

This is where I set it to 12AH in the BMS settings:

Any recommendations for grip tape? Need a 40" by 10" sheet, I prefer the course plastic like stuff

Splattergoat does custom printed tape:

It’s 20% off this month.
I might have gone that way instead of all the painting and pinstriping I just did if I’d known that was an option.
Not sure the quality of it.

I have seen this as well (not using unity though). If i remember correctly the issue disappeared for me when I lowered the duty cycle max to 90% or below.

I’ll try that, though for now it’s working ok after having reflashed the fw. Thanks for chipping in :+1:

oh, also realised I changed the duty cycle to 85% following the VESC guide tat Trampa made, so it’s highly possible that fixed it too

Duty Cycle Maximum is NOT the same thing as Duty Cycle Current Limit Start

ahh ok, well i havent done that then. I’ll try setting the duty cycle max to 90% then too. thanks for pointing out that they’re not the same
