Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

what would you suggest?

These will all work for 10S li-ion 42V (“36V”)

Stagger cable lengths to the bullets can’t touch easily…

Staggering wire splicings is when you start building with your brain instead of just your muscles :100:

You can also do that with all sorts of connections, so they all aren’t lined up and rubbing/vibrating together trying to make shorts. It will also make a cable smaller around and more uniform.

Drunk me can definitely bend cables far enough to touch. Still no replacement for having females on the power side.

Assuming I’ll be an idiot one day is a better approach.

@Halbj613 sent me

When a batter is 6S, 7S or 10S, what is that S?

hi i told @CadenGS to come from the other forum

he is looking to buy a board as a college cruiser and likes the meepo mini but wants more range.

i told him its easy for a builder to make him a larger battery and he can plug it in

@CadenGS where in the world are you located?

Miami, but my college is is Indiana
Both USA ofc

yep

if you like the meepo mini then @ZachTetra or @BenjaminF or @Skyart all build batteries that could fit that enclosure

how many miles do you hope to get? and how much are you willing to spend

The longer range would be better although I couldn’t say for sure, but I will be using it on a daily basis to traverse across my campus so ig the more the better. What do you think a ballpark price is for 12-15 and 17-20?

so i finally did the test on all my cells with a 0,47 ohms 50 watt resistor ( couldnt get another locally) , which draws about 9A

all the results were within 3,8 - 3,95 V - which seems ok, no ?

so, what else could be reasons my battery sags as much as 39V on full charge ? is it really normal ?

@Anubis @MysticalDork

S stands for series
So a 12s5p standards for 12 rows of cells in series and 5 rows of cells in parallel
12×5=60 so a 12s5p needs 60 cells.
More series = higher voltage
More parallel = more amps

Between voltage ad arms which contributes to acceleration speed and which contributes to battery life and range?

Voltage and amps*

Use the calculator :slightly_smiling_face:

Your acceleration depends purely on your gearing.

You range depends on your weight and riding style. A battery with more series will be faster.
Ex. A 12s5p and 10s6p will have the same number of cells, the 5p will have less range, but a faster top speed because more volatge (12s instead of 10s… Or if you multiply the cell voltage by 12 or 10 = 50.4v Vs 42v).
This is of course using the same cells type in every scenario. The most common cell nowadays in the p42a.

p42a for 21700 type, for 18650, it will be molicel p26a :wink:

Ahhh i see, since parallels make more amps it increase the ampere-hours of the battery… Thanks!

On an e-mtb I would definitely cut a hole for an XT-90 and epoxy it in the case. Easy water-proof connection that way.

Just made an edit to my post, please check :ok_hand:
