Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

How do I connect 2 stormcores to one remote having in mind that the ESCs are at the opposite side of the deck?

Thanks! I will check out stormcore for sure. Out of curiosity, does the focbox function well compared to other VESCs? Have many people reported it to break?

Yes

That unfortunately I cannot answer. My first esc was a Maker X retro so I have no ideas. You might find answers from others. As for the breaking part, that depends on how you set the esc and what happens afterwards.

Which focbox are we talking about? 1.6 and 1.7 is near identical, just with the canbus chip fixed, the unity is discontinued, but it is still loved by a lot of people, u can get the BKB xenith, they are exactly the same just sold by better brand and u get the right connector on it.

here’s a link to the one I was referring to:

Only a mod or admin can change titles, and we’re not looking for any new mods or admin.

I’ll be happy to grant anyone any title they wish. Just PM me.

I think this approach misses out on the community building tool that titles can be (and were, at one point).

That said, I understand that it takes a more hands on approach which requires a lot of time investment, and that may be time you dont have.

If i can find a way to grant the permissions required to create titles without making them mods, I’ll do it.

that’s the “unity+”, sold by a scammer named Jason Potter, and being resell on propulsion boards with a mark up. if u have to get one, here is the link for a better version: BKB Xenith - VESC Based Motor Controller (High Power) – Build Kit Boards

looks like its sold out atm, if u look into the used parts market, u might be able to snipe one before someone else does.

I believe the crossbar has been discontinued, or at least that’s what I was told by TB

i think u can get the crossbar only via the v7 mount set, but tbh the crossbar only works in specific setup. for example, my v7 mount with trampa pulley can’t mount the crossbar, its off by maybe 0.5mm or 1mm, maybe it works fine with TB’s own bolt on pulley, but definitely doesn’t go well with other pulleys

Thanks for the heads up!

Which FOCBOX?

Version 1.3, also called VESC-X is alright. Not really recommended.

FOCBOX 1.6 & 1.7 are singles and are very, very good.

FOCBOX Unity, bkb Xenith, FOCBOX Tenka, LaCroix Stormcore 60D, and Stormcore 100D are dual-motor, single-MCU ESCs and can be run in a super single mode if needed (driving one motor with both sides). Of these, the Stormcore are physically larger.

The only thing I’d be worried about breaking on a Unity/Tenka/Xenith (collectively, “Unity”) are the antispark switches, but the ESC will still work without that, as long as you used a loopkey

Mboards did the same shit with my 6s2p I got when I started esk8. Really fucking annoying that I had to wait 3 weeks after I paid for 3-5 day ground shipping
