Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

doable yes. I’ve used mine for a couple months now, no problem. Make sure you print with enough walls and or do infill 100% to be sure.

Mine are PLA

I still would order some normal ones just to be sure. Few bucks won’t hurt.

Mine
Finally have everything ready and just need to solder a couple more buckets then my build is complete (hopefully) but need some risers to do

ooh got it, just had to read it again.

Don’t ask how many times i removed the rear truck and enclosure the last couple of days rebuilding my schleprock xD

I would still prefer going with real risers in the end. Just feels so good upgrading stuff, even if it’s something so small.

Yeah prob will order but finally sunny here after 2 weeks of freezing cold so wanna finish and get to ride in the next day or two

In that case go print them, and if you have a rainy day in the next few weeks or so (hehe get it, bc you are in the UK?)then you can swap them and check everything else while you are at it.

Can I just stack those metal brackets and pretending its a riser? Im currently using 3 thin soft riser, and I fear those screws will eventually snap and I go superman flying

yeah will do
thanks

asking the screw master. @b264

I’m looking for some locknuts, recently ordered 60 m5 nuts but they are smaller than the ones i have and need/want.

The width of the wrong ones are 7.9mm, the ones i want/need are 9.4mm. The numbers don’t quite fit with the norms?

top ones i got recently (wrong)
bottom i want/need. both are m5

i think the smaller one are “low profile” version? i’ve had both also, not sure if there is problem in the long term

Both do work, i just can’t use the smaller ones with my T tool.

i’ve given up on using T / Y tool since i got a hex socket set, much easier to work with, especially in tight space

I use those ones all the time, they work fine but you can probably shear them a bit easier (although unlikely), with a washer to protect the deck or enclosure if you are using them for holding something up (drop through mount or under mount enclosure) they are just fine

That’s not the problem. My problem is the size, I’m looking for the bigger variant in the pictures but none of them fit the DIN / ISO measurements.

The smaller one doesn’t work with my T-tool

Is the bottom one an M5 myloc nut with a FUB 3/8" hex? Or are they both metric all around?
