Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

I’m having a hard time installing the motor pulley to maytech 6355 8mm shaft. I’m using the bkb 15t and it’s super tight. I’m not sure if it’s the loctite residue from my old build. Any suggestions or is there a pulley that works wonder with maytech motors?

Is it keyway type shaft? Does it fit easy without the keyway in?
If the last question is a yes, file the keyway until it fits.
Otherwise clear any residue and as a last resort smooth out the shaft with sandpaper (use high rpm’s at your own risk)

Keyway shaft and it’s a tight fit without the key. Stops midway. I tried cleaning it with brake cleaner. Now I’m cleaning it with alcohol. I might try a heat gun to clean the residue off

If there’s obvious residue. That’s def part of the problem.

Yeah. Goo Gone is next lol

Skip the chemicals, go to mechanical means. A file or some sandpaper.

Does anyone know if Bergs on a BN220 will fit a Bustin Sportster?

I think so too

Nope, no issue there as long as it doesn’t bug you while riding.

I finally got that Loctite residue off. Soaked it with alcohol for an hour.

Heat I found the best .blowtorch it. Boil it

I recommend at least charging the batteries before doing anything with Parallel welding. It keeps them all the same. But yes, you can do that. It’ll just be .01 off.

That just about sums up my whole esk8 journey and my sex life…

at least you have that

Is it alright if my belt is slightly off the wheel pulley?

Looks like the motor shaft is sticking out slightly, you could move the motor pulley a few millimeters so they line up.

Not sure how to move it since its pretty stuck on the motor shaft

or you could move the motor mount a milimeter or so

This would work too:

Moving the pulley is probably easiest if you can get it loose. Those hex grub screws on the end are whats holding attached to the shaft.

I just moved the motor mount to create clearance for the wheel, and I don’t want to move it again
