Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

4P can do 120amps, but p42a is also rated for 160amps max in 4p config. I would suggest 120amps is good enough for most use case, it should be pretty safe.

Here’s a bearing cheat sheet

6396 overheat so quickly your connector wouldn’t matter at all. They come with 4mm bullets.

Mine are with 5.5mm bullets. We will see about the overheating, but I guess their sealed nature doesn’t help at all.

2 noob questions coming right up

  1. how can I loosen my mbs kingpin bolt without risking a crash due to said bolt falling mid ride?

  2. anyone got a link to a good solder pen for my rework station? Accidentally broke the ceramic on mine while changing the tip :man_facepalming:

why do you want it loose? that doesn’t adjust the ride except to add potential speed wobble.

sorry. I was assuming MBS Matrix IIs. … ignore me if that’s not what you have.

Ats12. You know, trucks with normal looking bushings? :joy:

The connectors and pinouts aren’t standardized. Need to know what brand and model your rework station is.

Fak. It’s a Baku version. 5 pin female. There’s a breadboard inside the pen connecting the 5 wires in a lightning shaped zigzag pattern.

I can take pics later. I just left the house

Back left wheel at certain speeds feels as if I’m riding on a rumble strip.
Belt tension is nice and tight, motor pulley is definitely not touching the tire, wheel is screwed on tight. Any ideas?

on which youtube channel is the livestream going to be?

any opinions?

Curious question about certain hub motors getting hot:

As you can see, my motors are 90°C. What would be the boiling point of my motors? I’m running it as it should be, granted I have hills over 30% grade. I’m not gonna lie, going 38km up a hill is pretty fun, but better safe than sorry.

Just got home.
It’s a Baku 878L²
New-Project-10
Port is 5 pinned female

It uses this pcb to power it

your temp is -90c. Thats usually when there is no temp sensor. So it’s jibberish

Good to know. Thanks.

Looks like the generic Hallo heating element will probably fit, or you can get this full handle and not deal with replacing the element itself. https://www.amazon.com/OKIl-Soldering-Handle-BK-878L2-Station/dp/B07KXKB21Z

@MysticalDork Which reminds me 2 quick questions.
What’s a good temp for good solder joints on gauge wires?
If I were to grab a handle to states a higher wattage than the original, would it actually get hotter?

just found out my motor problem… the wires that was connected to them was pulled out by force. Fixed now.
