Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

How do you have it secured to the board? And is it entirely on the board or does some of it go over?

It’s secured with 6x M5 bolts, and it hangs of a tiny bit on both sides.

@JoeyZ5 how do you stop the screws from punching your batteries?
I also see this isn’t the first case you’ve put on it :joy:

There are actually threaded inserts epoxied into the bottom of the case. They stick out of the bottom of the case around 7mm and go into the holes I made in the deck.

This is a pretty horrible drawing but here’s how it works.

Black = Pelican Case
Yellow = Threaded insert
Blue = Trampa Deck
Red = M5 Bolt

There is a slight bump out in the bottom of the case as “feet” I guess

Yea the other holes are from @Agressivstreetlamp :joy:

@JoeyZ5 Must have been itching for days after you drilled those :joy:
I went the easy route last year. On my trampa.

Enormous washers on the inside to ensure pins didn’t go through the case

Not with a vacuum in one hand and the drill in the other :joy:

I was going to go the pin route, but was worried about getting caught up on them… I bet those things get caked with grass when off roading

That’s an old pic from when I installed them. I cut them down afterwards. Never had a snag yet

Hey now. I never actually touched that board. That’s @Skyart 's doing xD

I see how it is, just blame it on the next guy :joy:

I need to cut mine down. I scrape the bottom of the pins on the taller berms in the pump track. I can easily cut a bit off.

They are nice and convenient when you need to remove the top box.

That was my original plan :joy: but then, crazy ideas of wire direction came to mind

I ended up doing it this way

those push pins seem ideal (cut to an appropriate length of course for a qwick release enclosure I have in mind…

DECK SUGGESTIONS!

What mountain board would you recommend for a teenager? I need something slightly shorter than a Comp 95 that is compatible with F5 bindings and Matrix II trucks, nothing that has sharp angles anywhere

  • MBS stuff - too long or too shallow of an angle
  • Tampa/Kaly - CF is a bit too stiff (I wanna BOUNCE) and the shape has too many points
  • Mark One - little long
  • Electric Board Solutions - too long
  • Flux Motion and Prototypo - too big overall
  • Haero - little long

I’d rather not mess with risers and stuff, I want it to sit nicely without fuckery if possible

Get a trampa carver 15 ply. Bouncier than a trampaline

But the ends :face_vomiting:

Doesn’t the CF transfer a lot more vibration? I’m only 120lbs so even some ‘flexy’ decks are stiff for me

What CF? I don’t believe trampa use any CF at all in their decks.

…what are they made of then?

Basalt fibre…?

Some sort of glass fiber plastic weave it some shit
