Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

Lol I’m not sure. I’ll have to look at the clearance/height to see if they would work

Buying a complete isn’t the best move you’re unlikely to be able to use the trucks or wheels. Don’t buy a budget deck like moose or yocaher especially in drop through. Bustin and earthwing make solid budget decks. I stick with premium brands now. Rayne, Landyachtz. Enclosure options are better and unlikely to find any nasty surprises.i have a Arbour push Longboard they look a lot better than they ride.

I have literally the exact same problem

Anyone have any idea where I can get 290-5m-15 or 290-5m-12 belts? Vbeltguys is out of stock and anywhere else I try to find them no one seems to carry them!

I think imma stick with top mount boards, so that the meepo enclosures will work. Do you know of any besides Loaded Vanguard that aren’t drop through or have a drop?

*Maybe unpopular opinion but the Wowgo sells Vanguard clones. Better than the meepo ones (more flexy). I recently got the Wowgo 3 Deck and that thing so damn flexy. Although i must say that i got it for an absolutely unbeatable price.

Ownboard GT belts

Always tug test. Learned this the hard way. Glad you sorted it out.

Is there any reason to go with dual 6374 instead of dual 6355 when you only have a 10S3P battery so 36V*60A = 2160W peak?
Better temperatures?

Hi all smart people, I just changed the shunt resistors to 10mOhm on my vesc (I’m super nervous now that I destroyed everything so please keep your fingers crossed for me lol). Where in the firmware do I have to change this?

I updated the calculator linked in the top bar above to have this as a tooltip on the Efficiency field

If anyone feels the text there could be more accurate, PLEASE let me know

6374 is a motor size that’s weird for me. I feel like it’s too big for dual drive (unless it’s some offroad vehicle) and too small for a single drive.

I prefer dual 6355 or single 6380 / 6384 or bigger

I haven’t tried 4WD but I’d imagine 4 x 5045 would be more than enough

To answer your question directly, yes they will run cooler. They will also be more heavy.

However, I’m a fatass and I carry a bunch of stuff up and down hills a lot, and dual 6355 don’t even approach overheating, even in the summer. Dual 5065 do get REALLY hot.

a for-reals n00b question… anybody have any magic VESC settings for rear-truck walk at speed?

traction control, really didn’t answer the question…
and flopping a board over to front-wheel drive may be interesting to try… but if i get truck walk on a 50-60 degree front truck and an un-powered 35 degree rear truck I’m going to get pretty fucking bitter for the effort…

should I just unfukk my weak-assed ankles?

Why does braking only bring my esk8 to like 1kmh and never fully stop it even if I’m not on it?
When it’s gotten down to like 1kmg or something, it seems to lack backing power or so…

I use Current No Reverse with brake

d00d

lookie in there

Change max motor RPM to like 3333 or somewhere around there. What wheel size and motor Kv and pulley/gear ratio? My walking speed is right about 2.75mph

Just make sure you realize that if you exceed this speed, you might not have brakes due to a still unresolved bug in the firmware

thanks… but what I’m asking is about the magical little pixies that propel us on our murder-sticks that the minor imperfections that are a manufacturing reality, causing the powered truck to “walk back and forth” at speed…

that truck-walk… maybe @Dareno can ‘esplain’ it better

Regenerative braking doesn’t work at such slow speeds because in order to generate current

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/magnetic/genwir2.html

you need a conductor (stator) moving near a magnet (rotor). If you take the “moving” out of the equation, the generator is not generating power and thus not able to brake.

This CAN be ameliorated using active braking where you consume power (instead of generating power) to hold your position.

This is why.

If you use Current Hyst Reverse With Brake (my personal favorite) then you can use reverse to completelty stop you when desired. While rolling slowly, tap brake, release trigger, then tap and hold brake to engage reverse.

Some folks prefer Current Smart Reverse where it automatically applies a tiny bit of reverse to hold you at a stop. I don’t like that setting at all, but you are free to try it out and see if it works for you.
